All that money and that's the weak-ass promo photo they put out?

It was the best I could come up with. That was taken from some newspaper blog and it looks like they cropped them from their background. I know there are more promotional photos about there, but the ones I could find didn't look official.

If anyone can find a better promo shot, please feel free to share.

I think Adam Lambert was the only contestant worth a damn in last night's show. The rest was filled with bickering between Simon and Kari.

I am so tired of the hard luck stories. You got hungry kids? A sick mother? Live in a cardboard box? I don't give a fuck.

The only thing I took out of last night's show was "Kara is hot". The contestants bored me, but Kara is fun to watch.

Re: American Idol -- Auditions Week 2 -- 1/20-1/21

I liked Kai and I liked the guy from Hollywood who did Wicked.

Kai did seem like another sob story that this show dwells way too much on.

The Black Chick with the white braids was fricking hilarious.

"Ooop...the song came out of the wrong rectum"

She used another made up word...."Irractitate?"

The chick from Puerto Rico at the beginning had the most annoying laugh ever. I was ready to say shut up!!!

The blonde from San Francisco that Simon sounded like she was drunk was pretty funny.

I watched last night's show but I have already forgotten most of it. I did like the kid with the sick mother, he seemed sweet.

The black girl was funny how she kept mispronouncing trachea.

Yeah, only ones that seemed to be any good (that they showed) were the last guy with the sick mother and the Wicked dude. That one girl they showed a brief glimpse of (looked a little like Antonella Barba) was hotttttt, but she sucked at singing. She definitely got by on her looks.

I'm sick of the sob stories too. It'd be funny if all the people they profiled got cut.

I didn't like Adam Lambert at all. San Francisco sucked this year

exactly my feelings. and it seems like this year they are letting people through who never would have gotten through in years past. even Simon seems softer this year. it's like they all agreed to let more people through especially ones who may bring good television later on.

I don't know ... I think we're just seeing more airtime to the people who get tickets, and less for the bad singers and out-and-out freaks. Isn't that one of things that AI producers promised for this season? We didn't even get a "bad singer montage" last night.

When is the Puerto Rico audition? That promises to be either the best or the worst of the audition shows (depending on your perspective):
Spoiler:
According to a spoiler I read, only 2 tickets to Hollywood were given out there

2 hours is way too long for an audition show, so 1 hour went down pretty easy (even if it was somewhat unmemorable). I'm looking forward to the Hollywood round ... there's a lot more time given to it, and previews make it seem interesting.

Wow, this show must be dying. Are the ratings reflecting the lack of interest in this thread?

I read that the ratings for last weeks shows were about 10% lower than last year's week 1 of auditions. But that still leaves plenty of viewers.

Re: American Idol -- Auditions Week 2 -- 1/20-1/21

They really need to stop dedicating half the audition shows to promoting what's coming up later in the show: "Coming up soon: Bikini Girl! Then Super Nerd! Then recently-widowed Robert Downey Jr. look-alike!" We're already watching, no need to sell us on the show!

And what was up with sending the girl through who already had a record contract? The one Kara recognized. I thought this was a search for undiscovered talent?

The only rule is the singer can't have a current record deal, but I agree that including a singer with a past contract goes against the spirit of the show.

And I don't think the inbred shitkicking hillbilly was really threatening the judges when he said, "Be careful."

Had you ever heard of her before? I doubt most of America had. Seems like she is still undiscovered to me. Having a record deal doesn't make someone famous. The record business is littered with acts that were signed but never got off the ground.

How soon we've already forgotten about Carly from last season, who also had a record deal, but it was fleeting at best.

Just more made up Idol drama. That whole scene was pathetic.

I think quite a few contestants have had contracts already. Heck, David Cook was in an established band before Idol.

Why are people looking at Paula when Kara is sitting right there?

Wasn't Cook in a bar band? I would hardly call that being "established."
