The new business they're generating via that marketing is very cost effective (or was when I worked for them not too long ago). Its a far more cost effective business model than the agent system a company like State Farm uses.

Warren Buffett owns GEICO. He literally wouldn't sign off on that type of expenditure if it didn't help the company. My guess is that the net effect of the advertising that helps grow the company is that your insurance actually does end up cheaper than it would be without the commercials.

I think they're 2 for 3. Those cavemen and gecko commercials were great. The new ones suck so bad. The song is effing annoying.

I still prefer these commercials to the Progressive commercials with that VERY annoying woman.

I hate the gecko -- he was funny at first when he was annoyed at people confusing him with Geico, but the joke's worn out now.

But Cavemen, Tiny House, and the Money You Could Be Saving are fantastic.
