Re: Prison Break: Officially Cancelled

January 13, 2009 - At the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, FOX officially confirmed news that had long been rumored – the current fourth season of Prison Break will be its final one. The series is currently on a break (no pun intended), but will return on Friday, April 17th at 8:00pm for its run of final episodes.

Prison Break will take the place of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Terminator returns on Friday, February 13th for the final eight episodes of Season 2, which will conclude on April 10th. Joss Whedon's new series Dollhouse will air its thirteen episode season in the Friday, 9:00 timeslot, first following Terminator, then Prison Break.

It's the end of the road for Michael and LincolnI asked FOX's President of Entertainment about the previously talked about possibility of a couple of extra hours of Prison Break, to wrap the story up. He said that was something "we're contemplating," but wasn't sure yet if these would be regular episodes or air as a stand-alone two-hour TV-Movie, a la 24: Redemption.

Asked why FOX gave Prison Break "the hook," Reilly answered, "We didn't give it the hook," saying he felt that the storyline of the show had naturally played out and come to a conclusion.

It was time for this show to go. I really liked it and followed from the beginning.

I actually agree. I think the storyline has been dragged out long enough and is ready for a conclusion. All stories need closure at some point.

Re: Prison Break: Officially Cancelled

Not a surprise at all. I think all of us who are Prison Break fans knew this was going to be the final season.

I kind of figured the final run of episodes would return on Friday since Monday is occupied with House and 24.

So that rumor of it getting 2 extra episodes wasn't true. Bummer.

Never caught it...but a shame for fans of the show. I contemplayed watching it on Blu-ray, but they skipped Season Two and who knows if Four will now arrive.

Re: Prison Break: Officially Cancelled

Sad news, this last season was a big leap up from 2 & 3 in quality. I hope it is given a real ending, that's what will determine if I buy the series on DVD.

Re: Prison Break: Officially Cancelled

I LOVED the first season and about 5 episodes into the second season I gave up on it. Didn't bother with this last season. Sad news for fans although I thought they sealed their own fate by stretching a 2-season story arc across multiple seasons because it got good ratings.

Bummer. This was one of my favorite shows, and I enjoyed how they managed to stretch it this far. I really hope it has a satisfying finale.

Re: Prison Break: Officially Cancelled

While not surprised, I'm still upset. This has been one of my favorite shows since season 1. I hate that the final episodes will air on Friday night, that really sucks.

I'd much rather have a show end too soon than too late. Although I am also disappointed, the show does seem to have run its course.

The previous rumor was that they already got that 2 extra episode commitments which made it sound like it was already locked in. This new report, not so much.

Not surprised by the news -- would be nice to have a couple extra episodes tacked on to wrap things up (if needed).

Every time my wife catches me watching this she asks me "are they still escaping from prison"? It never fails to amuse her.

Re: Prison Break: Officially Cancelled

I watched this show from the beginning. Season one was great. I loved it. Seasons 2 and 3 were meh. Season 4 has been a little better. I don't get excited about it being on like I did for season one, but I find myself enjoying watching it, and the hour flies by. I will be sad to see it go, but agree that it seems to have run its course.

Re: Prison Break: Officially Cancelled

I thought the first two seasons were great. Watched a few eps of season 3 and wasnt digging it so I stopped. Not too sad its ending I guess since it feels like there wont be a whole hell of a lot more they can probably do with these characters. Still a good show and a very pleasant surprise when I blind-bought the 1st season on dvd.
