Maybe I'm just up later than you guys, but I'd gladly take Billy Mays, Flo, Sham-WOW guy, and FreeCreditReport.com guy over Klee Irwin, the trailer trash version of John Waters.

I haven't seen this guy. What are watching late at night that you see his commercials?

My Other Self 12-04-08 05:13 PM

Irwin is on usually around the time the Magic Bullet is on.

I may have fallen asleep on the couch and briefly woken up to this. The whole thing about the amazement at the size of his daughter's stool rings a bell.

Does Sham-wow really work? The commercial makes it look awesome. Even though the guy is creepy, I kinda want one.

I'll bet he's eaten human flesh in his day. The ShamWOW is probably excellent for cleaning up human blood.

"And it cleans up the blood, without using any pressure! Are you following me camera guy? Oh wait you're not, 'cause I killed you."

Watch the carpet and the puddle carefully; he pours the soda and there's a puddle on the table, but when he's about to put the shamwow down, it's gone.

What I like to watch are commercials like the ear listener device, where the actors are obviously delaying their reaction to a director/camera even though they are supposed to be watching a game, their kids, the priest, or the next squirrel they are going to eat.

They got a new one. Listen Up now looks like a bluetooth headset. I love how everyone is basically eavesdropping on other people's conversation.

"Did you see that new guy at the gym? He's hot!"

[guy nods in agreement]

gmanca 12-04-08 05:58 PM

LOL, yeah that's basically all it's used for.

What's also hilarious is that the same lady who annoyingly yells "DOES THAT HAVE TO BE SO LOUD!" in the first ad ends up needing that new bluetooth headset in the second ad.

I can only assume she divorced her nearly-deaf husband and sought punitive damages but at least she got the second headset for free.

TheKing 12-04-08 08:57 PM

The Sham-wow commercial always bugs me, because of this line:

It's from Germany, you know the Germans always make good stuff"

Yeah, like the Holocaust!

The Sham-Wow guy sued Anna Nicole Smith, the Farrelley brothers, and the Church of Scientology because he thought they all had done something to sabotage his film. After reading that article posted on page 1 of this thread about him, he seems like an even bigger douche than his picture here makes him out to be.

Flo would be hot if she wasn't so obnoxious.

And if she wasn't wearing more make-up than Caesar Romero's Joker and didn't have 3 inch long false eyelashes.

kstublen 12-04-08 10:50 PM

I actually like the FreeCreditReport.Com Guy and the Commercials/Songs. I think they're funny in a very self-deprecating and morbid sort of way. The newest ones still good, but the ones they originally aired were gold in my humble opinion.

I like the Sham-Wow Commercials too. I used to swim competitively and at some of the meets divers were there. Both swimmers and divers use them; unsure of the brand, but I know I used the Speedo Brand of "shammy" (forget how it's supposed to be spelled). You can literally put it into the pool, pull it out, ring it once, and it is all dry. They work great. I've never used them for anything that they really showed in the commercial, but it wouldn't surprise me that they work as shown in the infomercial.

And to whoever said these people aren't as bad as the late-night commercials...I am going to have to strongly agree with you on that. As someone who stays up late doing homework and just leaves the television on to watch syndicated Seinfeld, Will & Grace, Sex and the City, etc., etc., let me tell you, the infomercials then are AWFUL.

Well she's less annoying than her character in the commercial, but there's only one truly funny line in that act ("cinnamon Coke").

Groucho 12-05-08 10:15 AM

I disagree strongly with TheKing's assessment that the Holocaust was "good".

Deftones 12-05-08 10:52 AM

nobody beats that guy that used to be on one of those home shopping networks that sold knives. he would always get so crazy and excited. i wish i could remember his name. iirc, they did a parody on SNL of him.

He is crazy. He even put an announcement at the end of his "film" accusing the Farrelly brothers for stealing the ideas from his movie for "There's Something About Mary." Anyone see both and can comment? :)

Don West? He used to always hock baseball cards and other stuff on the shopping network, and does some pro rasslin' announcing, too, I think.

spainlinx0 12-05-08 03:56 PM

Bill Burr, a comedian, was on O&A talking about how he bought the ShamWow and it was a piece of garbage. He said it's like trying to clean up a mess with a plastic bag, and the thing ends up smelling really bad.
