Tina Fey's husband talks about her facial scar
This is from Yahoo! News:
That sounds pretty awful for a five year old.
NEW YORK – Tina Fey's husband is talking about something the "30 Rock" actress would rather not discuss: the scar on her left cheek.
In an interview in Vanity Fair, Jeff Richmond says a stranger slashed Fey's face when she was 5 years old. He says the incident occurred in the front yard of her house.
Says Richmond: "That scar was fascinating to me. This is somebody who, no matter what it was, has gone through something. And I think it really informs the way she thinks about her life."
Fey says talking about the attack would seem like exploiting it.
Says Fey: "It's really almost like I'm able to forget about it, until I was on-camera, and it became a thing of `Oh, I guess we should use this side' or whatever. Everybody's got a better side."

I used to work with a guy who was a friend of Tina's from college. He had told me about how she got the scar and I knew it happened when she was younger, but didn't realize she was only 5 at the time.

I always wondered what happened; that's pretty terrible for anyone to have a stranger slash your face in your own yard, but even worse for a five year old to have to go through that. Why is her husband blabbing about this though? If Tina Fey doesn't want to talk about it, why can't people just leave it be? Shouldn't he respect her right to be private about that part of her life?

I had a feeling that this was more than a childhood accident or such. I have a small scar by my left eye which was the result of running into the family wooden stereo system console -- just one of many scars endured in my youth.
What a horrible thing to happen to a child (Tina Fey)...

I hope her husband is talking about this because she wanted him to do it so people would stop asking her. Now that I know what is going on with it, I can see how it's not just an issue of privacy but likely a very upsetting event from the past that makes asking in very poor taste. The privacy bit won't stop some, but hopefully everyone will stop now that it's clear this is so traumatic.

My understanding is that this information came out in an interview that they were both doing with Vanity Fair. She didn't stop him from saying it, so on some level, I think she just wanted the info out there so that people would finally stop asking about it.

I never noticed any scar on her face. Really I didn't. I always see her as a beautiful lady, (and damn sexy as Sarah Palin, if I do say so myself!) and can't believe I never noticed it. Terrible thing to have happen, to anyone, especially a child!

I have HDTV, and I can't say I noticed the scar either. Guess I need a bigger set.

You know although I noticed the scar when I first saw her on SNL it really is not that bad. She is really sexy with or without it. Too bad she's married.
