The Unit -- "Into Hell Part 2" -- 11/16/08

Continuation from last week.

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Conclusion. Jonas and the team attempt to rescue Jonas' daughter, Betsy, from her Syrian kidnappers, who now also hold Col. Ryan. Back at home, Molly is summoned to Washington, D.C., to meet with a government psychologist (Linda Hunt) who believes Molly can help her daughter through the power of thought.

The Molly-Betsy communicating was silly, but great episode.

I'm not going to say who was killed at the end.

Well, glad they're keeping T2 on the show. Although the dynamic between him and the unit is sure going to be effed up.

As usual, FFed through the Molly sequences...I love my FF button.

And if anyone's interested, the Bush administration signed a secret executive order in 2004 allowing incursions into Syria so this sory line is a bit stale:

And as usual the Molly segments totally ruined the whole show. I was really hoping in her flashbacks that the 'mugger' would shoot her in the head and then take her daughter to safety while telling her 'I did you (and the viewers) a favor by taking out your mom'. Now that would have been sweet!

Only thing that saved the Molly segment was the appearance of Linda Hunt. Been a huge fan of hers since Year of Living Dangerously.

Loved the sequence of Bob knifing the two Syrians when they burst into the room. Also liked that each member of the team got ample, quality screen-time. Glad the show hasn't devolved into a Jonas-fest.

Ratings update: early report says 9.80 million for 1st half. Not bad.

It's been getting around 8-10M viewers a week consistently.

Which is pretty incredible when you factor in that it is on at 10 pm on a Sunday night. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets more than a million viewers via dvr who watch it the next morning ( ) or later.

Anyone remember the numbers when it was on after NCIS? I recall it being only around 11 million, but numbers for NCIS back then weren't as strong as they are now.

Even MORE impressive since it never, ever actually starts at the same time (or ends at the same time) week to week due to football.

I, also, FF'd through the bizarre Molly scenes and liked the overall conclusion.
So what, the Colonel stays on with no reprecusions (other than the beat down), and that's that? I did like the way he took it like a man, knew he deserved it, tried to go out a hero ("take me first"), but I didn't expect him to fight back so much.

Looking at my spreadsheet from the 2006-2007 season, they usually got between 11 to 13 million viewers a week. And judging by the inconsistency of when I watched it, I now remember that CBS used to 'dick' them around and have a couple of new episodes and then have a couple of weeks of repeats. It was almost as if CBS was trying to kill it.

I like now that they are showing the episodes without a break and their consistant #'s prove that that is the way people like it.

This has to be the best season yet. I haven't been letdown at all this season. The Molly bits were a bit lame but everything else is so strong it more than makes up for the weak links.

Although we never watch the Unit on Sunday (it comes on too late, and we both work), it is regular required viewing either right after dinner on Monday or Tuesday.

i agree. well, maybe a tad behind season 1. great finishing up of this story, but i would've loved to have seen a full blown firefight between the unit and the syrian police/army.

Yeah, it's always a toss up comparing a late season with the season that made you fall in love with the show. I give the edge to 4 since I don't recall any specifics about season 1.
