Life on Mars -- "Tuesday's Dead" -- 11/13/08

I didn't have time to create this thread earlier. Surprised noone else started one.

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

A hostage crisis at County Hospital finds Sam, Ray, Annie and Lt. Hunt in a gunman's crosshairs while he tries to force a doctor to reverse a dangerous operation on the hostage taker's brother. Meanwhile, Sam is troubled by a phone call in which he seems to hear his mother's voice in 2008 begging him to wake up.

Annie in a nurses uniform was nice. Missed the neighbor again this week.

Another great episode...although next week's looks even better. Loved Sam dancing to Grand Funk and doing his best Michael Jackson.

Hope ABC keeps this one around.

Is this episode online anywhere? The show has too many freakin commercials, and I missed about a minute of it when I flipped the channel. If not, could someone tell me what happened when
Spoiler:
All the hostages were hooded and Sam was disguised as the bad guy. They were about to go outside, then they went to commercial. When I flipped back about three minutes later, It was just Sam and the bad guy and his brother in a hallway just before the brother smiled. I saw all the rest after that. What happened when the hostages were released?

I wanted to add, the Tom Waits reference was cool, but I knew there would be no way they put a song of his in this show. It just wasn't going to happen. Shame on you ABC (and Fox) for not putting the cash up to get a Waits song.

The UK version of last nights episode was BY FAR the worst episode of the series. It almost turned me off to watching the rest of the episodes on BBC America last year. Thankfully, I continued to watch till the end.

And thankfully the US version last night, was much better, though not as good as recent episodes. The whole hostage thing was just too neatly 'wrapped up' in both versions.

I am glad that it is moving behind Lost next year. Most viewers of Grey's Anatomy are not 'sophisticated' enough to take the time to get into Life on Mars. It was a poor fit from the beginning.

Chris

Edited to add: and wtf is with the dentist link with Grey's Anatomy?

Over all, definitely enjoying this more than the BBC original.

Too bad the guys who were responsible for the writing on 'October Road' write for this show, too, because the dialogue at times is just downright painful. I wanted to throw something at the tv during the bar scene w/ Lisa Bonet. Don't get me wrong - I like the show, but the dialogue can be fucking annoying at times and ruin a good moment/scene.
