The Office -- "Crime Aid" -- 10/23/08

Yeah, but you know two things are gonna happen in the series finale down the road:
1) Jim and Pam will get married - right? it's inevitable that they're dragging this on.
2) they'll finish filming the documentary - did they ever do that in the British version?
And SPEAKING of the documentary.....has a series sitcom ever had a better venue to its flashback highlight clips (a la Family Ties-style) than the "Dunder Mifflin documentary"?

I've been wondering about this too. I thought she was suppose to be gone for 3 months over the summer?

Agreed. But they're aren't exactly avoiding the cliches. They are throwing the cliches right in front of your face and doing a complete 180 with them.
Cliche: Pam is spending time with new people and staying out till 8am. Jim is not worried until Roy says something. Jim starts to drive to NYC to see her.
180: Jim turns around and says its all good and he's not that guy.
Cliche: Pam plans on leaving Jim for NYC for awile.
180: Jim and Pam are ok with it.
Cliche: Pam and Jim are having trouble talking to eachother and seem a million miles apart.
180: They realize that its "just one of those days" and that nothing is really wrong.
I love the way the writers are doing that.

As for this episode, loved it, absolutely loved it. Character progression, the plot moved forward and it was hilarious throughout.

In the British show, they were filming a "documentary," but has that term ever been used in the US version? Perhaps we're watching their "reality show."

Agree with much of the foregoing... another good episode, as the other episodes this season have been. It was good to see Roy again, as I think he's an interesting (and understated) character. I also liked seeing David Wallace for the same reason, and the twist he added to the ending was very cool. I am interested to see where that plot point goes.
I also liked the little bit near the end where Jim has a sudden fit of jealousy after talking to Roy (and then reverses on it). That reaction was realistic to the situation given how Jim and Pam's relationship has developed since the beginning of the show. I hope the writers continue to investigate making Jim more complex and nuanced in his relationship with Pam, rather than the overly syrupy "no conflict at all" approach that it sometimes has veered toward.

I thought Dwight meant "Sheetz" as in a Scranton gas station/convience store: http://www.sheetz.com

"I asked Michael what his top ten Bruce Springsteen songs were. Three of them were Huey Lewis and the News."
That line killed me. And when the warehouse guys auctioned off going out for a beer.
"5 dollars."
"Sold. Let's go."

Have we had a Creed episode yet? I mean seriously, his one-time segments are almost always some of the funniest bits in the show. His stealing Creed Branton's identity line this week.. oh, man..

Yeah, David Wallace was at the auction too, so it wasn't just "tacked on the end".
I can't believe that no one's mentioned one of my favorite lines "... another was 'Fast Car' by Tracy Chapman". Sure, I can see some moron confusing Huey Lewis with Bruce Springsteen... but it takes a special kind of idiot to confuse a black woman with The Boss!
