Best show on TV right now? (2008-2009)

I think that "Mad Men" is the most effective, best acted show on tv right now. it is so abrupt and to the point and i get totally swept up in that era each and ever time i watch. i am just amazed i am into a period drama like this and it is wonderful.

so what do you think is the best show, comedy or drama, on tv right now?

TGM 10-13-08 04:30 PM

Supernatural

Mok 10-13-08 04:31 PM

Prison Break. This season has been great!

Red Dog 10-13-08 04:33 PM

Mad Men - at least until Damages returns.

And to have Heroes as an option. rotfl

Puzznic 10-13-08 04:41 PM

I will 2nd Supernatural.

RoboDad 10-13-08 04:44 PM

Can't really narrow it down to one, but for me, it would be one of:

The Big Bang Theory
Chuck
NCIS
House
Pushing Daisies

Of course, if we include cable network shows, then I would also have to add:

Burn Notice
Monk
Psych
Doctor Who

:)

Quake1028 10-13-08 04:45 PM

Life.

Superman07 10-13-08 04:48 PM

What a half assed list!

I assume you don't mean "on", so much as airing/inproduction (e.g. 24 isn't "on", but is still being produced).

That said:
Lost
Chuck
Life

Patman 10-13-08 04:48 PM

I went with Mad Men.

Sessa17 10-13-08 04:54 PM

Mad Men.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the best comedy though. It's a scientifically proven fact.

WTF?

The Office isn't up there?

Undoubtedly the best show on Television.

At the very least, a shitload better than many shows on this list.

Agreed, The Office for me as well.

critterdvd 10-13-08 05:23 PM

I'm personally thinking "True Blood" or "How I Met your Mother"

Anubis2005X 10-13-08 05:23 PM

Supernatural, hands down...

Prison Break. This season has been great!
I second Prison Break  How could it not be included in the poll?

Bill Thompson 10-13-08 05:43 PM

The Office, without question. There isn't a show on TV that manages to blend comedy with plot progression and character development like they do. It's smartly written, features tremendous acting, and is great week in and week out.

After that the only show so far this year that would even be close to The Office would be Chuck.

Geofferson 10-13-08 05:51 PM

Dexter

movieking 10-13-08 05:54 PM

I went with the Shield, but Always Sunny and Californication are tops in my book as well.

mwbmis 10-13-08 05:55 PM

With the Wire now over, I'll have to go with Lost. It had a really strong year last year, and I'm looking forward to it coming back this winter.

My sentiments exactly.

My vote goes to Michael Scott and his Dunder Mifflin team.

Supernatural. The show has been better than ever in it's fourth season and is putting a lot of other shows to shame IMO.

True Blood, Dexter, The Shield and Pushing Daisies are near the top of my list for hour longs. I loved the first season of Mad Men but haven't been as thrilled with this year. It's Always Sunny, The Office and Entourage are the best 30 min shows currently airing (30 Rock would make this list if it was 2 weeks from now as I'm only listing shows airing NEW EPs right now).

Chew 10-14-08 07:07 AM

If I'm limited to the list, I'd go: Shield, then Dexter and Pushing Daisies.

Off list: Supernatural then Office.

My off list changes once 30 Rock comes back in 2 weeks. ;)

Original Desmond 10-14-08 07:11 AM

Supernatural by a goddam mile followed by Sons of Anarchy
