So how many of you hear are trying to watch these through alternative means because you can't wait until February?

NBC will get to air it in February after NFL season ends because I believe it's taking the timeslot of Sunday Night Football.

Riggins is getting on my nerves. He really can't have a dinner or answer a question? I actually liked Buddy whispering to him before they sat down, and I liked Buddy going over to tell coach's wife (I mean, the school principal--although I wish my high school principal had looked like that) about the meeting. Good for him.

Maybe he'll just have to pay for the first year with student loans and then get a scholarship for the remaining?
Grants?

Yeah, most kids I know in his situation (raised by a single mother, not a lot of money) are taken care of pretty well, especially if going to a state school.

What's the deal with Matt's father? I know it's all for story line purposes.. but this situation ticks me off... He's in Iraq, which I wonder if given the circumstances, he really needs to be there.. especially since he's done one tour before.... I know for a fact that they get paid more money for being in combat.. I have to think, given his age, he's on the higher pay scale....I know they get an allowance for housing... Yet, he can't buy his kid a decent car to get around with? This KID is running the household.. He's taking care of his grandmother(his mother!)....doing what his father is supposed to be doing and yet, they make it seem as if there is no father at all.. like he deserted him as well.
Send some money home so your son can buy himself a decent car and have a somewhat decent life!

I'm guessing his dad isn't really serving anymore...I think last time he was back (S1 or S2?), he ended up running off again because he didn't want to be a father to his kid. I'll bet his dad is just using the Iraq story to appease Matt.

Probably so. And nice that Mom lives a short driving distance away and has nothing to do with him either. ("I don't really think you're in a position to judge"--great comment by Matt.)

I had actually assumed Riggin's couldn't read for a moment and that's why just chose squab - something he assumed would be on such a 'fancy menu'. Did they ever address this or am I have deja vu from My So-Called Life?
Good episode all around. Too bad my, uh, Directv cut out so I didn't see any of the deleted scenes.

Solid 2nd episode.
Loved the scenes with Tyra and his so-called campaign for student body President.
I'm actually really surprised that Tim let Buddy intimidate him during that dinner party.
I guess they are somewhat setting up Matt and Julie possibly re-connecting again.
This episode ran roughly 43 minutes, so I assume it was edited for broadcast on NBC. I am loving the no commercials on DTV.
The deleted scene at the end was cool.

My favorite scene was when coach went over to Smash's house to tell him in person about walking on with Texas A&M. I loved Smash's reaction, how he handled it. Also just the whole scene including the mom and the sister on the top of the steps.
