Wait, who died in a car crash but was saved?

they were going to die, but the bald headed dude named the observer saved them.

and basically told old crazy scientist guy 'you owe me one'

and thats why old crazy scientist dude hid the giant silver bullet for bald dude.

Great news for those of us still watching.

Fringe got the back 9 order today. We get 22 episodes!!

http://www.variety.com/article/VR111...goryid=14&cs=1

"Fringe" has gone mainstream, scoring a full-season order from Fox on Wednesday.
Fox's back nine pick up comes as "Fringe" has so far ranked No. 1 among all new shows in the adults 18-49 demo (with several more entries yet to bow).

"Fringe" bowed to lukewarm ratings, but made a stunning bounce in week two. After four segs, the show has averaged a 4.2 rating and 11 share, and 10.7 million viewers overall.

The skein, created by J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, reps the second frosh series to get a full season thumb's up - following the CW's "90210."

"Fringe" revolves around an FBI agent (Anna Torv) who partners with an eccentric doctor (John Noble) and his son (Joshua Jackson) to track unusual, disturbing events happening around the globe.

Lance Reddick, Kirk Acevedo, Mark Valley, Blair Brown and Jasika Nicole also star.

"Fringe" comes from Warner Bros. TV. Abrams, Kurtzman, Orci, Jeff Pinkner and Bryan Burk exec produce.

Very good news.

I think House saved this show. Once it premiered the ratings of Fringe went up.

CKMorpheus 10-02-08 12:35 AM

Much better episode. Crazy about seeing The Observer in the background in previous episodes. This definitely has the touch of JJ Abrams now more than before. Sucks that we have to wait two weeks for another episode.

Nth Power 10-02-08 03:03 AM

Good news on the pick up. The show has definitely been improving since the pilot.

XavierMike 10-02-08 08:30 AM

Definitely good news. The show has really grown me.

Whatever happened to that gun the ski hat guy was shooting after Dunham kicked it aside? They never even looked at it. Just like Lost we'll start asking ????'s.

I was (and still am) very curious about that gun. I hope they bring it up soon.

Great that we'll have a full season. That should be the show creators to develop a good story.

onebyone 10-02-08 02:59 PM

Glad on the full season pick up. After a strange first episode, this one is really coming together nicely.

SteelWill 10-02-08 03:45 PM

This was a damn fine episode. It hit me how absolutely excellent John Noble is in his role with this one. This show might be turning into a keeper for me so I am shocked and relieved Fox isn't canceling it.

Sound wave gun? Microwave gun?

I know we are working on technology like that right now.

Quality episode. Freaky info with those screen-graps up thread!

If it wasn't for those dang credits I would have been really shocked at the end. I just figured it was the bald guy until they switched cameras!

Yet another week of this show improving. Very glad to not only see it was picked up, but nice to see progress as well.

celmendo 10-02-08 09:58 PM

I agree. After the really bad pilot I was afraid of how bad this show might be but either I'm just giving in or it's getting better. I liked each new episode a little more.

Josh-da-man 10-02-08 10:25 PM

Did anyone else think that opening scene (with the bald guy in the diner dumping pepper on his burger) felt like it was right out of an X-Files episode?

While I still feel there's work to be done, Fringe is slowly improving. Nice to see that they're building some kind of story arc piece-by-piece.

wmansir 10-02-08 10:40 PM

I dropped this show after the second episode. But after reading the first dozen responses to this thread I went back and watched the previous ep and this one. I still have a mixed reaction. On the one hand the actual content of this episode was better. On the other I'm not a big fan of the serial conspiracy shows. They almost always disappoint.

While the episode didn't hook me as much as most of the posters here, the shift in tone grabbed me enough to stick around for another ep or two. I'm curious if this ep was an outlier or they just started with 3 more conventional episodes before throwing it into high gear.

I am enjoying this show but this business about Olivia going on these dangerous mission in the field alone with no backup is unrealistic. Something this important, she should have at the very least a highly trained heavily armed partner, but really a small 5-6 person special ops teams at her disposal

As for Joshua jackson, Son when you jump the weird guy from behind who you know is a key player in all of this, don't stop hitting the mofo until he's unconscious, don't start playing 20 bloody questions with him !

Original Desmond 10-03-08 05:47 AM

who was that guy at the end ?

Olivia's dead partner who died at the end of the first episode. He was involved somehow in the releasing of the virus on the plane in the pilot episode and when Olivia figured it out a huge car chase ensued and he crashed and died. Also she was banging him :)

I have to agree with the comments, watched the pilot and episode two but skipped the one with the painting guy (seemed like it was just a rip off of an aspect of heroes). Glad I gave this another shot because the observer guy has me intrigued. Very Lost/X-Files which is exactly what the show needed.

argh923 10-05-08 11:29 PM

Love the whole concept of The Observer. When he debuted, I looked at my wife and said, "Well, we've got our Cancer Man for this show."

Loving it so far. John Noble is excellent in this...I spend every moment he's on camera trying to figure him out. Really, I think all of the cast is doing a fine job, though.

Gizmo 10-06-08 12:16 AM

Now I'm hooked. Finally.

Giantrobo 10-06-08 01:29 PM

This show has been cool since ep 1 and this ep was very good.

I like it so chances are it'll get shitcanned soon. At the very least if it gets a 2nd season many here will no doubt bitch and moan about it sucking. People around here love bitching about 2nd seasons. :p

Any theories on the Steve Martin character?
