Wow. Hands down best season premiere imo. Loved the episode, it had just the right amount of humor, plot, talking heads, etc. The best hour-long of the office I've seen.
I can't believe nobody has mentioned Dwight with the bug spray yet or the trashbags on the last day. I was on the floor laughing haha....

Great episode. I was really impressed and pleased that they got the engagement out of the way instead of dragging it out into a "will he, won't he" for the next few episodes until sweeps. I loved the fruit vending machine that Dwight set up that they kept cutting back to getting more and more rotten over the weeks.
For a while I thought the joke was going to be that Dwight and Angela were exercising together in the warehouse, but they never did show that, so I'm guessing they actually were hooking up?

Ahhh, love The Office -- and loved the Season 5 Premiere. Everything positive that everybody has mentioned was great (Stanley, Dwight's nod to the camera after being "paged" by Angela, the rapid addressing of Kevin's lack of being mentally challenged) ... especially ...
Heavily agree on Amy Ryan being an awesome addition to the cast. However, Ryan the Temp's return throws me for a bit of a loop.

Yeah, I agree. Even though I cited in my earlier post that I liked having Ryan back in the office, given what happened last season, my instant reaction was that it did really stretch the bounds of credibility.

I think it might be because Dwight sprayed her in the face with his bug spray. But, I can't remember if it hit her face or not.

I loved that Phyllis is now head of the party planning committee because she walked in on Angela and Dwight last season.
Michael running around the office with Pam on Jim's laptop had me on the floor. So did Andy's sudden performance of "Umbrella". Next to Michael, I think Andy is the most complex character on the show. I want to feel sorry for him, but he's such an idiot and yet there's also that anger management problem that seemed to almost come out again last night.
I guess I can't be as mad at Michael for tearing up the concert tickets as I want to be, since we know that Holly isn't going to be on the show as a regular.
Darryl really beefed up over the summer. Must have been all the drugs.

To quote Kevin: That. Was. Awesome!
Poor Michael, he is always so close and yet a mile away -- trying to kiss Pam goodbye after Jim, his Single White Female obsession with Ryan, tearing up the concert tickets, etc. Truly cringeworthy television.
His gallery of large persons on the bulletin board included the McGuire twins and Jabba the Hutt.

Me too, but I wouldn't hold my breath on the Ross/Rachel back and forth relationship thing. I really think the writers plan on making the Pam and Jim relationship a normal healthy one without too many bumps. Their relationship is better as a back story arc while keeping the randomness and comedy of the Office at the forefront.

I've worked for employers who've rehired people who were fired for unethical behavior. Sadly it's not uncommon in some companies.

I thought for sure that Michael was going to buy the concert tickets and then take Jan. So, what he did was a little better than what I had expected. Kudos to you, Mr. Scott.
THANK YOU! I was going crazy trying to figure out where I'd seen the guy before (mostly recognized his voice). Yeah, he looked totally different.

Ryan was hired from a temp agency, so it's possible that HR has no clue that he's even working in that branch.
Agreed about Amy Ryan. Kudos to the writers and the the actress for creating a character who is, remarkably, both likable *and* a good match for Michael.

The scene of Jim watching television in the dorm lounge while Pam was counselling a student reminded me of a couple of my "exiles" to the hall lounge while my roommate had make-out sessions with his girlfriend our freshman year.

Great episode.
My favorite exchange of the night was between Oscar and Holly in the break room.
Oscar: "Oh, so you think it's a choice?"
BTW, I just noticed Amy Ryan is the same actress that played the deadbeat mother in Gone, Baby Gone. She's quite an actress, totally different performances!
