Arrested Development movie confirmed

Jeffrey Tambor, who played the patriarch of the endearingly dysfunctional Bluth family during the show's critically acclaimed three-season run, confirmed that the film is in the works while talking to EW.com at the premiere of "Hellboy 2" on Sunday. Jeffrey Tambor, who plays George Bluth, Sr. on the cult-hit TV show "Arrested Development," has confirmed that an "Arrested" movie is in the works. "After months of speculation, I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an 'Arrested Development' movie," says Tambor, according to EW.com. Numerous "Arrested" cast members have publicly expressed in adapting the show, which was canceled back in 2006, to the big screen. The wit-driven sitcom aired for three seasons on FOX before it was canceled. Along with Tambor, Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Jessica Walter, and Michael Cera also starred in the series. "I am very excited about that. I love that cast and crew and I felt like we had more to say," says Tambor. Bluth family lovers, rejoice! More news today on the movie from The Hollywood Reporter:
The "Arrested Development" feature has moved closer to reality, with Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard reportedly closing deals for the long-gestating project from Imagine and Fox Searchlight. The possible migration of the critically acclaimed but short-lived Fox series to the big screen has been a hot topic among fans for the past year. Speculation has been fueled by cast members of the show, including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Jeffrey Tambor, who have been frequently quoted in interviews that a feature adaptation is in the works. Hurwitz, who created and exec produced the Emmy-winning series, is on board to write the film as well as direct with help from Howard. The series, from Imagine TV and 20th TV, was a pet project of Howard, who had a lot to do with its distinct visual style. In the final episode, Howard, playing himself, heard the Bluth TV family's pitch of their story and liked it for a movie. |
I'm sorry, but you never go with an actor to "confirm" anything.
Once you've got a studio greenlighting something then you've got confirmation, otherwise its just idle creator talk and we've seen more than enough of that with this supposed flick. |
