Re: Official 2009 Wipeout Thread!
Way better than last year, the obstacles are made so you look foolish no matter what. The hurdles were the funniest (and most vicious looking). I also watch the UK, and Australian versions which are equally as funny.

I always think I'll be bored with the show, but watch it anyway with my kids and always enjoy it more than I thought I would. This year they changed enough to keep it somewhat fresh. Liked the looks on the faces as the catapault launched.

If you love Jill, you gotta rent or buy Blade the complete series. She was really good in that show.
Plus, there are alot of nice lingerie shots of her in that series.

I still dig Jill. Loved the part when she was eating the ditzy Princess' Chocolate balls.
If you have a Twitter account, she Tweets all the time on there.
The Trash Talker was a fricking lame ass contestant. Could not believe how slow he was on the Wipeout Zone and then he quit.
I was so hoping that Cheap Date wouldn't win it. I loved seeing him struggle.
Was anyone really disturbed by the Pale Guy in the Speedos?

I love the hurdles, the funniest part was I think cheap date, when he got
stuck under the last hurdle and Jill said, " he thinks I'm one of the hurdles."

I just saw last weeks episode last night and I must say the new obstacles are pretty wicked. Those have to be the most impossible courses to complete successfully.

I'm not surprised when people quit. Some stunts or parts of the course look ridiculously hard. And I imagine getting bounced around or chopblocked at the knees takes a lot out of you.

Agreed, but I thought she looked even better when she was in the audience for "Dancing with the Stars." (I am 99% sure that was the show that she was sitting in the audience, but I am not positive. I want to say it was to promote the return of wipeout.)

This is too bad, but I'm surprised that they are filming during the month of Nov. I thought they filmed these in April & May to be shown during the summer?

'Wipeout' contestant dies after show stunt
By Andrea Reiher
November 12, 2009 9:34 AM
Tom Sparks, 33, died Nov. 5 following an appearance for a taping of ABC's "Wipeout" where he suffered a stroke.

According to The Wrap, Sparks was participating in the show's Japanese game show-style obstacle course when he began complaining of knee pain and shortness of breath. The producers told him to stop competing and he was taken to a nearby hospital. Spark was eventually transferred to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where he underwent several brain surgeries.
However, Sparks' father Bill has told friends and family that Tom suffered from APS, or antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, a disease that causes unnatural clotting of the blood, which may explain the stroke and brain surgeries. APS is not something that would come up in a routine physical, such as one you would undergo to appear on "Wipeout."
The family has asked for donations to be made to the APS Foundation of America in lieu of flowers.

ETA: Ok, after some googling, I guess it is the Australian version of Wipeout that is filmed in Argentina. My bad.

OK, sad story... but check out the name of Wipeout's production company:
End 'em all? well, looks like you've got a good start!
Tom Sparks, 33, was participating in the first segment of an obstacle course Oct. 19 when he complained of knee pain, according to Endemol, the company which produces "Wipeout" for ABC.

Wipeout -- Season 3 Thread -- Premieres 06/22/10

"Welcome Back America" - "Wipeout" returns for Season Three on TUESDAY, JUNE 22 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET), welcoming back America with an all-new course and qualifier stunts. The Fence Flapper, Double Cross and Bruiseball are three of the wild and outrageous new obstacles featured in the world's largest obstacle course contestants will face this season.
We've also raised the stakes with an all-new Wipeout Zone, and the fan favorite Big Balls are back, but with a twist - the Motivator is now the platform that contestants stand on, which sneaks up on them and smacks them from behind, hurling them on the Big Balls if they hesitate.
Each week, 24 energetic new contestants of all ages, shapes and sizes go head to head through four rounds of demanding but hilarious obstacle courses to win the title of "Wipeout Champion" and the $50,000 grand prize. In the end, only one contestant will be victorious, while everyone else will wipeout!
18 episodes. It looks like it's going to air Tuesdays and Thursdays for the 1st 3 weeks and then go back to Tuesday's at 8pm.
Love Jill Wagner!!
