Last season was terrible. But since this is a reboot of sorts, I will give it another chance.

Agreed. Season 3 was a disaster. Hopefully this year will have more humor, better storylines, and no more politics.

I also agree that Season 3 was a bomb, but I'm willing to give it another chance.

Is there an echo in here? I was just going to comment on how disappointed I was with season 3 before saying how excited I am about tonight's reboot episode of sorts. I even bought the first 3 seasons on Blu-ray I was so excited about tonight's ep. Aww, the small joys of summer TV.

Can't wait to see that guest star!

I'm worried that with Nancy upping her stakes each season (local weed dealer -> major weed dealer -> trafficking), that the show will just continue to lose focus and head down the less comedic path.

^ I understand what you mean. Count me in as another who thought S3 lost focus and wasted too much time on meaningless issues. I had fun with it, but it wasn't nearly as good as S1 or S2. Thank God Nancy looked so hot I didn't care. I can only hope living in a border town, with the hot temperatures, will force her to wear less clothing this season.

Sigh, I saw an article in the local paper and Kohan said they moved it to a border town "since it's an election year."

Wonderful. It was bad enough when Heroes went there last season.

I'll be watching, but this article has me worried (brace yourselves Doughboy and PixyJunket):
Spoiler:

The critically acclaimed television series Weeds is back for its fourth season, and creator Jenji Kohan is relocating the satire from suburbia to the borderlands.

Nancy Botwin (Mary Louise Parker), suburban mother and drug dealer, trades her gated community for a beach town just miles from Mexico. The focus shifts from bourgeois hypocrisy to larger social issues such as immigration, free trade, and the larger effects of drug trafficking.

So I'm guessing they'll have to get rid of the old theme song.

According to Wiki:

The first episode of this season entitled "Mother Thinks the Birds are After Her" is the last time "Little Boxes" will be used over the opening credits, after which it will be replaced by new credits and an unknown theme song.

Definitely with you there.

I didn't hate Season 3 as much as some of you did, but it was easily the weakest of the three. I hope this new direction breathes some new life into the show.

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the first episode back. I'm loving Albert Brooks. If nothing else, I'm sure he'll consistently make me chuckle. Still trying to be cautiously optimistic about this season; after all, this was really just a transition episode. The real story of the season hasn't really even begun (Nancy doing the trafficking thing). Loved everyone blaming everything on Celia!

I've watched all 3 seasons over the past few months, so this is the first time I'm watching it "live". Liked the way that Season 4 started, at least better than Season 3.

Laughed real hard when everyone was blaming everything on Celia. That was great.

I liked learning more backstory about Judah and his family.

"NotFrancie"

Albert Brooks was great.

Good episode, but as Nancy gets more into the game, she gets more flighty... And I miss the scenes where Nancy would go to Heylia's place to get the drugs. Her being a Trafficker just doesnt seem quite as fun at this point.

Yeah, it seems like a job now for Nancy.

So they will take a good show and make it into just another political statement show. Blegh.

Still feels too short every time I watch, but that may be good this year.

Yeah, I really miss those first season trips to Heylia's place. I wonder what's going to happen to her character now.
