The Shield Season 7 Premiere Date!!! At last!

Mark your calendars everyone! Don't say your weren't given a headsup.

http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-th...,7655464.story

After 15 months of waiting, fans of "The Shield" will finally get to see the show's final season this fall.

FX has set Tuesday, Sept. 2 as the premiere date for the seventh and last season of the show, which established the cable network as a destination for original series and set the template for future edgy FX series ranging from "Rescue Me" to "Damages." The season premiere comes a year and three months after the most recent original episode in June 2007.

Gee are they sure they don't want to get one more season of Dirt in first?

About f***ing time.

mhg83 06-09-08 07:43 PM

Damn its felt like forever since a new episode came on. This is very good news indeed. Now excuse me while i go freeze myself.

Deftones 06-09-08 08:18 PM

Yipee! About time.

EdTheRipper 06-09-08 08:21 PM

Can't wait.

macnorton 06-09-08 08:30 PM

The next best cop show (#1 being The Wire). Looking forward to this one.

saoirse 06-09-08 09:43 PM

Sweet. Thanks.

Geofferson 06-09-08 10:13 PM

Glad to finally have a date confirmed.

DeputyDave 06-09-08 10:52 PM

Outstanding. Although the fact that this is the last season makes me a bit sad, I'm glad my favorite show will go out while still on top.

Patman 06-09-08 10:55 PM

It's been so long, what's this show about, again?

I agree - though I'd say The Shield is THE best cop show. The Wire is so much more than just a cop show.

The premiere date is perfect for me. Now I can rewatch the first 6 seasons and be as ready as possible

nemein 06-10-08 05:39 AM

When is season 6 coming out on DVD?

+1

I hope they intend to re-air the last "season" prior to that premiere. What is stupid about that date is that FX will be competing with broadcast TV for ratings since the regular TV season will be starting. Dummies. -ohbfrank-

My crowded recording schedule may force me to record the later airing.

That is fair. Not to go too far off topic, here are my all time rankings:

1. Homicide (Best show ever on TV)
2. The Wire (Best show ever on cable)
3. The Shield (The grittiest and rawest show on TV)
4. Dexter (Although technically speaking it isn't a true cop show)

There are plenty of others, but these 4 are the best

I'll probably watch, but I'm really tired of these year+ long hiatuses.

HOLLYWOOD - Courteney Cox's controversial TV drama Dirt has been canceled by network bosses at FX after just two seasons.

The second season of the show, on which Cox played a feisty tabloid editor, was shortened by the Writers Guild of America strike, and viewer figures slipped to just over one million per episode, prompting the decision to axe it.

Cox made the announcement, telling TVGuide.com, "It just got canceled."

But the former Friends star, who produced the show with her husband David Arquette, already has other projects in the pipeline. She says, "We’re developing all kinds of stuff right now. We'll be producing more stuff together, for sure."

I can't say I'm surprised, those 7 episodes kind of sucked. Hopefully The Riches comes back...that one was just starting to heat up.

It's the touching story of a driven Los Angeles police detective and his love of cats.

15 months was too long to wait. I'll still be there but man that was brutal.

Thos19 06-10-08 11:35 AM

How many episodes in this final season? Ten?

Thos.

DJariya 06-10-08 11:45 AM

A full 13 episode season

tsohg 06-10-08 01:10 PM

Cant wait to for Tavon to come back and take back his spot of token black on the Strike Team. ;)

Julien is going DOWN..... not in that way

mdc3000 06-10-08 01:34 PM

Knowing the exact date helps, but goddamn I can't wait for this...

Jimmy James 06-10-08 06:21 PM

I will say this for FX: I don't think they were looking at 1 year and 3 months. I would hope they would have gotten this on in a year or possibly even 10 months but for the strike. I can understand not wanting to burn this off during the summer.

I will also say that it will be awesome to have a few weeks of Burn Notice on Thursdays and The Shield on Tuesdays. It would be great to see a couple of folks from The Shield guest on Burn Notice season 3 once they are released from obligations to their FX series.
