Dexter (Although technically speaking it isn't a true cop show) There are plenty of others, but these 4 are the best Back on Topic...Cant wait to get back into this, I almost lost hope that it would air this year....I can understand the writers strike delaying things, but the FInal episode was shot a few months ago (IIRC)..... |

It doesn't look promising, if this is the most recent info. |
The new dvd sets from Sony are out in stores now. Everything looks similiar to the Fox releases except they actually used the same cases for all five seasons. I hope Sony is smart enough to release S6 before Sept.
If you go here they have some cool interviews up with Shield cast members talking to each other. I prefer The Shield over The Wire btw. |

I was happy with the 4:3 but since I have a feeling S6 will get released 16:9, I wanted a consistent set, so I picked up the new S1-5 sets at Fry's a couple weeks ago when they were 16.99 each. There is a pre-order listing for S6 at Amazon but no date is listed. |

How can The Shield be 16X9? I've always heard the show was shot in 4X3. I have no issues with it being Pan and Scan.

one of the only shows in history that could take this big a hiatus and still have me interested in another season
the finale of S6 made the hair stand up on the back of my neck cop show or not, this is the most consistently kick ass hour of programming on television, imo i really don't think i've ever been disappointed by The Shield *tosses a grenade in your lap and walks away* |

I posted some screencap examples from season 1 and 2 here. It seems the only way to get these now is the new 16x9 versions. Best Buy recently pulled all of their 'older' 4x3 sets. I wonder why Shawn Ryan's attitude changed about this. |
imo ALL the 16:9 versions look better
i don't equate 4:3 with 'gritty' or a documentary look... i only own s1 right now but i'm waiting for the series megaset to be released and i'll buy that, hopefully in 16:9. those screen comparisons are great. |

I've been just fine with the 4:3 look, but as I said I didn't want to have an inconsistent set so I went with the 16:9 sets assuming S6 will be that way too.
I remember those screenshots - some seem a bit more open than you'd like for the feel of the show, but most of them are OK to me. I figured Shawn Ryan would have come out with a statement if we had a big problem with the 16:9 releases, because if he did I'd be pissed Sony did this. |

Thought I would post this in here:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Shield-Season-6/9859 Season 6 DVD finally gets a date, and the press release seems to confirm it will be 16:9. |
If anyone wants to hear Shawn Ryan himself explain why he prefers 4:3 it's in the commentary for 'Strays' in season 3. Around the 20 min. mark
|
About fucking time.

The official FX Shield site has TONS of videos from the upcoming season 7:
http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/the_shield/ There are spoilers since all the videos are actual footage from the episodes. I watched them all and sweet mercy.. This season is gonna be off the HOOK! There are also actor interviews that are pretty good. |

Woohoo! Season 7 in less than 2 weeks!
Those clips btw are awesome and a lot of those clips are from the season premiere on Sept. 2 so you damn well know its gonna be an awesome episode. Did you guys see the cover for the Season 6 DVD set? http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...4L._SS500_.jpg Thats a really POWERFUL pic and probably my favorite shield DVD cover so far. Man I'm gonna probably going to watch that whole set when it comes out next week. |
Season 7 Episode Titles:
Coefficient of Drag Snitch Money Shot Genocide Game Face Animal Control Bitches Brew Parracide Moving Day Party Line Petty Cash Possible Kill Screen (King of Kong reference!) Family Meeting |
I doubt theres any point in trying to speculate whats going to happen based on those titles. But here goes my valient effort...
Snitch... Someone on the team/close to the team ratted them out and one of their many enemies knows information about them either regarding Money Train or the cop shooting in the first ep. Money Shot... I'm guessing this is an obvious reference to the money train incident? Bitches Brew... Possibly a showdown between Tina and Danny that have been "brewing" for a long time. Maybe the winner wins Dutch's heart LOL Family Meeting... Which family are they talking about? Vic's meeting with his family? Or the family in the Barn sense? Where are they meeting? Funeral? Why must they tease us with these titles! Tell me what you guys think |
