Good riddance, Alyson Gilbert!

Finally John Rich started calling out people for not being country, something that they should have done right from the start. Coffey, the Navy guy, and the pretty boy that got booted last week should never have made the TV round for this show. I have to admit I did like Coffey at the beginning, but right now, he just isn't country.

Kinda surprised that the Laura & Sophie were bottom two instead of Navy guy, but they won't last too much longer. These would be my rankings as of right now, in terms of singing country:

Pearl Heart
Ashlee
Gabe
Shawn
Laura & Sophie
Coffey
Tommy (Navy Guy)

This show is pretty awful, I quit after an hour of the 2 hours of drawn out family circus on display.

glad Alyson is gone but man, it's sad to see Laura and Sophie suck so bad... I really liked them before... but shit, if this is the best talent left for this kind of show, it should have been cancelled years ago... My sister came into the room and said 'wow that person is awful'...they then got glowing reviews, to which my other sister responded 'yeah, the talent on this show must work on different criteria because no way any of these people would have made idol'. So true.

I guess now I'm rooting for either Melissa or Gabe now.
I did find it funny that Shawn fired John Rich.

I was shocked that it came down to Ashlee and Pearl Heart. As per my list last week, I thought that they were two of the top three there. No way those little brats should still be there, especially with their bickering. It's ironic that they were being told that they weren't mature enough to be in the industry yet, and the response of one of them to Jewel's comment about how they should be in the bottom instead of Pearl Heart was to roll their eyes.

I thought that this was a pretty poor week overall. Even most of the performances that got praise weren't great, IMO. For the first time, I actually did like Gabe Garcia though.

Pearl Heart should dump the young sister as lead singer and just do it as a twin duo. Both seemed a lot more comfortable on stage than their lead singer.

Gabe has weird dead eyes, though.

I cought a minute of this last night and saw some hot blonde singing Steve Miller Band. I was listening to it thinking how horrible it was, how here voice was all over the place, and then the judges loved it. I guess I just dont understand what country people want from their music.

the judges do love her, but she does this weird thing with her voice, which makes some of her words sound like a country version of britney spears...it sounds very forced and fake....just sing the word like normal!

So the finale was last night, and Melissa Lawson beat Gabe Garcia to win the title. Shawn Mayer made top three, but was eliminated earlier in the show.

I was waiting to see BRC break out Achy Breaky Heart. It was good to have the other contestants back, but a bit more face time wouldn't have hurt them. I have no idea who was there and who wasn't.

I only half listened to the single, but it didn't grab my attention. Some of the originals were better, IMO.
