I really like this movie but I have been hoping that it would be updated. Saw this advertised on A&E & can't wait to see it.

TheOne 05-23-08 12:56 AM

Me too. Been looking forward to us.
Will DVR it on Monday and Tuesday. Although on Tuesday, it is showing Part 1 and Part 2 back to back.

Chew 05-23-08 06:55 AM

This mini-series will be out on DVD June 3rd already if you'd rather go that route to see it (like me :) ).

GatorDeb 05-23-08 07:20 AM

I'll be catching it live :D I love medical stuff.

Geofferson 05-23-08 08:00 AM

I'll be tuning in.

Ayre 05-23-08 08:07 AM

If you dare, check out the review on AICN. It does contain spoilers.

Flave 05-23-08 08:28 AM

How come I've seen this? Wasn't it on already?

FWIW, I wasn't expecting much going in and was pleasantly surprised. This is a nice "re-imagining" of the original and in a lot of ways even better than the original. Ridley Scott (and his bro Tony) are behind this so you can expect quality.

Ayre 05-23-08 08:53 AM

Sky TV in the UK aired it.

riley_dude 05-23-08 09:02 AM

How many nights is it?

dom56 05-23-08 09:20 AM

I watch it but no way it's going to be good as the movie version.

Same here. I just watched the original on cable a few weeks ago too.

Jadzia 05-23-08 12:38 PM

I wasn't planning on watching this (have never seen the original), but after reading the article in TV Guide I am going to tune in. Starting next week, there are hardly any new shows to watch. It is going to be a dry summer for TV.

You mean all that awesome [sic] NBC reality programming doesn't get you excited for summer TV?

DJariya 05-23-08 12:57 PM

Dry summer?? What the heck are you talking about Jadzia?

TNT: The Closer 15 episodes
Lifetime: Army Wives season 2 18 episodes
USA: Burn Notice 13 episodes

That's 46 weeks of solid entertainment right there on cable.

There's also Swingtown and Flashpoint on CBS.

If you look hard enough, there will always be something to watch.

Jadzia 05-23-08 01:39 PM

Yeah, I have those on my schedule to watch. Usually there is a lot more summer shows though. The writers strike happened when a lot of summer shows usually go into production, and so much of the schedule this year seems to be quickly thrown together reality shows.

For instance, I cancelled HBO because there is nothing new currently running or in the nearby future. Maybe I will renew in July for Generation Kill.

Chew 05-23-08 01:43 PM

Add in cable channels trying to avoid going up against the Olympics for another reason this will be a slow summer (eg The Shield was pushed back because of the Games).

Giantrobo 05-23-08 03:36 PM

I saw the promo for this at the theater. I was interested in seeing Eric "Will" McCormack in a sc fi/adventure role.

Deftones 05-23-08 07:18 PM

So, is this on consecutive nights or weekends? I only see one listing for it on the first night.

JustInsane 05-23-08 07:44 PM

I just watched it. Thought it was okay, but got a little goofy near the end.

I believe it's on Monday and Tuesday at 9pm.

I also saw a listing for watching the entire 4 hours in 1 sitting for next weekend.

Deftones 05-23-08 10:12 PM

Interesting. I'll have to check the DVR. It only picked up the 1st part in the scheduler.

Ok, figured it out. Apparently the listing on Tuesday is exactly the same as the Monday listing. I think the DirecTV HDDVR isn't differentiating that it's two different episodes.

Jadzia 05-23-08 10:49 PM

I had to manually add the Tuesday night showing to my DirecTV HD DVR as well.

mikeporter 05-24-08 05:21 AM

I watched the original on dvd a few weeks ago in anticipation of this broadcast. I just hope the new miniseries won't be a complete waste of time.

DeputyDave 05-24-08 11:05 PM

So, Monday is showing up as a NEW 2 hour show and Tuesday is showing up as an old 4 hour show?

Since I work both nights I wonder if I should just record Tuesdays 4 hour episode. I wouldn't miss anything, will I?

DJariya 05-25-08 03:37 AM

I think there is an issue with the Directv DVR not picking up the Tuesday airing correctly. Tuesday should be at 9pm as well. The 4 hour listing is wrong.

My Cox DVR says the same thing.

The A&E website says part one is from 7-9 PM and part two is from 9-11 PM.

I guess I have to set my recording manualy.

DJariya 05-25-08 01:22 PM

Okay I have looked at the A&E web site and they did some really bizarre scheduling.

Monday May 26th: Part 1 at 9pm.

Tuesday May 27th: Part I at 7pm and Part 2 at 9pm.....hence the 4 hour listing on my Directv DVR.

So, it looks like you can watch Part I and II at their regular times or watch the entire 4 hours starting at 7pm.....hmmmmm.

So, I guess you can manually set the 2 hour listing on Tuesday or watch it in one 4 hour sitting.

whotony 05-25-08 10:00 PM

it's on a loop all night tuesday.
starting at 7 pm eas until 5 am.

Deftones 05-26-08 11:10 PM

Not bad. Certainly plays out like a TV movie. I wanted to see Christa Miller's tittays. :(

Some of the dialogue is bad, and the special effects are hokey, but story makes up for it.

Yeah, pretty much my reaction. Some of the dialogue is really clunky, but it's entertaining.

Geofferson 05-27-08 08:14 AM

Yeah, it lacks production value, but still plays out decent on the small screen.

mugwump 05-27-08 10:10 AM

I'm liking it but I'm also treating it like an extended B-movie with my wife and I shouting out to the screen as the ridiculousness unfolds. Somehow I doubt that's what the creators were going for but at least we're watching. The casting is just awful on all fronts.

Orbi-Wan Techno 05-27-08 03:15 PM

We're watching it, and so far, we like it, since there's really nothing else new to watch right now.

Mopower 05-27-08 04:07 PM

It's horrible. Those saturday night Sci-Fi originals are better. And if you disagree wait until you see part 2.

Lastyear 05-27-08 04:53 PM

Terrible. Rent the original instead.

dom56 05-27-08 05:28 PM

Yep, this new version blow won't waste my time in watching part 2. I also recommend you watch the original instead. Much more suspense and the last 10 min. of the film have my heart racing.

Deftones 05-27-08 07:26 PM

Fucking AandE. So now you clump the entire 2nd part with the 1st part, not allowing me to record only the 2nd part. Now I have to fast forward through 2 hours of shit to see the second part. Assholes!

whotony 05-27-08 07:49 PM

it was listed as 2 seperate parts on the guide i see, comcast.
part 1 was on at 7 and part 2 at 9, repeated all night.

Flay 05-27-08 07:49 PM

I love that A&E produced a series with cursing, but has to bleep out the cursing during the broadcast.

Not on DirecTV. It's listed as a 4 hour block.
