Wow! What a dark ending! I was expecting a last minute save and didn't expect that.

This season has definately been big on the gore, glad to see SN getting back to a darker tone. Hard to see where this cliffhanger is going.

I can't believe they actually did a cliffhanger like that. I'm frustrated, yet impressed at the same time.

Agreed, great finale and I give them props for having the balls to end things so dark.

Got that right. I really want to see where they are going with this. I wish they woulda given just a little hint during the credits, even if it was just commentary. One of the biggest cliffhanger season finales i've seen.

I enjoyed the episode. I thought they would resolve the story too.

So what was Ruby (with Lilith inside her) trying to do to Dean with the glowing hand?

I think she was trying to do to Sam, not Dean, what she did to Hendricksen but was unsuccessful because Sam also have powers. Powers that she apparently can't touch.

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting that!
And while I'm sure the Winchester bros will be reunited at some point down the line, I'm looking forward to the new dynamic for the start of next season.

Hate to think Ruby's done, because she makes me

Damn, I really like this show....

Did anyone catch the Car 54 nod when they hid the police car?

I let out a nice chuckle when I saw the police car's roof number. Thought it was cool how Dean could see what teh demons actually looked like, but I wonder if he was actually having hallucinations. IE was the freaky looking sam a hallucination, or could Dean see some demon in him? And what is Sam's power, and why did Lilith look like she lsot her powers after that bright light? As far as where Dean is now, I dont know. It definitely looked hellish. I thought the hooks through his body attached to heavy chains looked very devilish.

Great finale to a pretty decent season - lots of action and gore in this one - Dean getting ripped to shreds was sick! Can't wait for next season.

Great finale to a great season. Most improved show for sure.

Spits all over that pathetic Smallville finale

All season they have mixed up the main story with monster of the week very well

That little girl was chilling !

That was a great finale to a solid season. Maybe The CW should let the Supernatural writers moonlight on Smallville. They could learn a good lesson how to write a good cliffhanger and a compelling season.

I can't wait to see how Dean gets out of the pits of hell.

Did anyone else get a Twilight Zone "It's a Good Life" vibe from little girl Lilith controlling her family? And a Hellraiser vibe from the final shot?

Also funny how Ruby being there actually dooming Dean instead of helping him (so he was right on that point!)

I wonder if Dean will be able to team up with his dad in hell? That would rock...

His dad escaped.

Another thing about Dean in hell is after a certain point would he be worth saving? I would think an extended stay in hell would fry(no pun intended) a persons mind to the point of no return.

i'm wondering for how much of next season sam will be on his own.

it was a good finale and dean gettin ripped up was crazy.

i thought zooming in on him in hell was cheesy lookin though.

I would like Ruby to come back. She is a good addition to the mix.

The only way this cliffhanger will be given weight for me is if it isn't resolved in the very first episode like every other cliffhanger. I agree, Sam needs to be on his own for a while.

I love the continued use of Carry On Wayward Son for the finales.

The S3 DVD set is already up for pre-order at Amazon, albeit for what seems like full-season price - $38.99.
