What is the name of that show coming out about life in the 70s? I saw one promo for it but can't remember the name. Funkytown or something?
I think it is a CBS show.
EDIT: Swingtown. And its a summer series.

It sucks that Miss Guided wasn't given a chance.
Jessica Stroup is in 90210? Sweet.
I was actually just telling my wife the other day that the only reality show that I ever enjoyed was TAR and that we need to start watching it again after being burned out on it a couple of years ago.

August is sounding pretty damn good with 2 hour episodes of Prison Break, Fringe and Bones.
As far FOX, I will check out Fringe and Dollhouse. I think Dollhouse and 24 could bring back the fun on Monday nights.
I noticed there is no mention on when Prison Break returns after it's midseason finale. If Dollhouse does well, they would have to move it or PB to another night.
Also, if Sarah Connor gets good numbers and gets the back 9 episodes, where the hell is FOX going to put it?

I enjoyed Kitchen Nightmares, and will always love Cops. But can Fox do any better than almost all reality shows with the exception of Sunday Night.

Does that mean we don't get Dollhouse until January?
I would have thought Fringe and Dollhouse would have made a smart pairing. Suppose they are better off getting benefits from established series.

NEW SERIES DESCRIPTIONS:
In "My Own Worst Enemy," Henry Spivey (Christian Slater, "Bobby") is a middle-class efficiency expert living a humdrum life in the suburbs with a wife, two kids, a dog, and a minivan. Edward Albright is an operative who speaks 13 languages, runs a four-minute mile, and is trained to kill with his teeth. Henry and Edward are polar opposites who share only one thing in common -- the same body. When the carefully constructed wall between them breaks down, Henry and Edward are thrust into unfamiliar territory where each man is dangerously out of his element. "My Own Worst Enemy" explores the duality of a man who is literally pitted against himself. And it raises the question: who can you trust when you can't trust yourself? Mike O'Malley ("Yes, Dear") and Saffron Burrows ("Boston Legal") also star. The series is produced by Universal Media Studios. Jason Smilovic ("Kidnapped") is the executive producer; David Semel (director of the "American Dreams," "Heroes" and "Life" pilots) is the director and executive producer.
On the heels of NBC's hit movie, the iconic 1980s television classic comes roaring back to life as a reinvented, updated and super-charged action series showcasing the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand). Absolutely the coolest car ever created, KITT is equipped with "AI" (artificial intelligence) that is capable of hacking almost any system. Its weapons systems matches that of a jet fighter, and its body is capable of actually transforming into other vehicles and uses sophisticated holographic imagery to elude villains. "Knight Rider" stars Justin Bruening ("Cold Case"), Deanna Russo ("NCIS"), Sydney Tamiia Poitier ("Veronica Mars") and Bruce Davison ("Breach"). David Bartis ("Heist," "The O.C."), Doug Liman ("Mr. and Mrs. Smith," "The Bourne Identity") and Gary Scott Thompson ("Las Vegas," "The Fast and The Furious") are executive producers. Based on characters created by Glen Larson, "Knight Rider" is from Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Productions.
The new landmark series "Crusoe" is an epic and ambitious take on Daniel Defoe's legendary tale that finds the dashing and resourceful Crusoe (Philip Winchester, "Thunderbirds") after many years of being a castaway on a desert island with his companion Friday (casting to follow). Written by Stephen Gallagher ("Eleventh Hour") and directed by Duane Clark ("CSI: NY"), "Crusoe" follows the adventures of the two island dwellers while looking in flashback at Crusoe's life before he was thrown into an isolated existence filled with danger and adventure. Among those are his tragic childhood with widower father James (Sean Bean, "The Lord of the Rings"), the blossoming relationship with the love of his life, Susannah (Anna Walton "Hell Boy: the Golden Army") and his entrepreneurial aspirations under the watchful eye of family friend, Jeremiah Blackthorn (Sam Neill, "The Tudors," 'Jurassic Park"). Overcoming marauding militias, hungry cannibals, wild cats, starvation and apocalyptic lightning storms on his seemingly idyllic island, Crusoe dreams of the day he will be reunited with his beloved family. The executive producers are Justin Bodle for Power, Michael Prupas for Muse and Genevieve Hofmeyr for Moonlighting.
For "Kath & Kim," they're the most dysfunctional duo in suburbia. Kath Day (Molly Shannon, NBC's "Saturday Night Live") is the mom, a foxy, 40-something divorce who finally has time for herself and her valiant search for love. Kim Day (Selma Blair, "Hellboy," "Hellboy II") is the daughter, a self-absorbed princess recently separated from her husband who finds consolation in stuffing her face. When Kim decides to move back home, Kath reluctantly agrees -- but to Kim's chagrin, Kath is not about to cater to her every whim as she has in the past. Based on the most successful comedy in Australia of the same name, Kath and Kim are two brassy women who prefer the finer things in life like acrylic nails, big hair and faux diamond chips. The series is produced by Universal Media Studios and Reveille. The executive producer/writer is Michelle Nader ("The King of Queens") and the executive producer/director is Paul Feig ("Freaks and Geeks," "The Office"). Gina Riley, Jane Turner and Rick McKenna also are executive producers.
From creator/executive producer Thom Beers ("Deadliest Catch," "Ice Road Truckers") and executive producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, "America's Toughest Jobs" is a new extreme competition series that will test 12 people who venture out of their safe, comfortable careers and are injected into some of the most challenging, dangerous and demanding jobs on earth. From logging high in the Oregon Forest to oil drilling on the Texas range, or from driving icy roads to extreme fishing -- each job requires guts and stamina, and they'll have to live up to the same standards as the pros. In the end, their new boss and co-workers will determine success or failure, and those who don't make the grade get sent home. Upping the ante, the annual salary of each job will be thrown into the pot until the finale, where one rookie will take home the well-earned cash. Hosted by Josh Temple, "America's Toughest Jobs" is created by executive producer Beers and is produced by Original Productions and BermanBraun.

Sorry for all the questions lol
EDIT: Nevermind on Heroes, I didn't see the "summer 2009" but saw January and thought it wasn't on. So I assume Heroes will be on 9 EST/8CT all year. Any info on dvd release would be great though.

CW ends time-buy deal with MRC
Sunday night results were 'below expectations'
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER
The CW has terminated its Sunday night time-buy deal with Media Rights Capital.
According to insiders, move came after MRC failed to keep up with its payments to the netlet. (A CW spokesman declined comment on those allegations; MRC execs weren’t available to comment.) That, coupled with the MRC block’s record low ratings on Sunday night, likely prompted the CW’s move to reclaim the night.
It’s believed the CW was able to legally yank MRC off the night earlier than contractually possible because it hadn’t been fully paid. Meanwhile, MRC was hit hard by the economic downturn and weak ad marketplace - and the ratings for its original programming on the night had been even lower than anyone had predicted.
“The scatter market, which MRC was completely reliant on because of its late start, is frozen right now,” said one exec familiar with the situation. “You can’t get money in scatter to save yourself... In a regular economy maybe you would have seen a different outcome.”
Nonetheless, viewers didn’t pay much attention to the block. Season to date, the MRC block was averaging 1.04 million viewers, down 42% from last year (when the CW bombed with its own fare). Among adults 18-49 - the older aud (than the CW’s younger 18-34 bent) that the block was supposedly targeting, the shows averaged a 0.4 rating and 1 share - down 50% from last year. In a letter to affiliates, CW COO John Maatta said the Sunday night results were “below expectations.”
“The MRC shows are simply not working,” Maatta told affils. “To that end, we have made a business and programming decision to protect our network and your local interests on Sunday for the remainder of the season.”
The MRC shows will leave the network after this Sunday. Starting Sunday, Nov. 30, the CW will program the night with a off-net fare from CBS Paramount and Warner Bros., as well as a movie package from MGM.
Netlet is dusting off the run of CBS’ cult fave “Jericho,” which will air Sundays at 7 p.m., followed by the movie at 8 p.m.
During the CW’s “Easy View” block, the net will air season one segs of “Everybody Hates Chris” and “The Game” in the 5 p.m. hour and back-to-back season two episodes of “The Drew Carey Show” in the 6 p.m. hour.
“Our plan is to program Sunday with distinctive, first-rate programming that can quickly stabilize the night,” Matta said.
As for the remaining MRC on CW programming, it’s believed that MRC is now shopping around the Bob Saget sitcom “Surviving Suburbia,” the half-hour that was originally slated to launch this fall, but had been pushed to spring. Nets pitched include ABC, CBS and NBC, but no deal is in place.
Meanwhile, the production company had already put its two CW Sunday dramas, “Easy Money” (which scored decent reviews from crix) and “Valentine,” on hiatus. At the time, the company said the move was pre-planned. But it’s believed MRC wanted to wait and see if the shows improved before spending any more money. The fate of reality show “In Harm’s Way” and the acquired Canadian skein “4Real” was unclear.
The MRC deal was originally crafted by MRC TV prexy Keith Samples and Tribune TV topper Ed Wilson. Tribune was looking for a safety net in case the CW folded - as was more heavily rumored last year - and also programming that would be more compatible with its stations’ 10 p.m. newscasts.
But with the MRC lineup failing to catch on, Tribune has more recently distanced itself from the deal. Meanwhile, Samples and MRC parted ways at the end of the summer due to creative differences in how the company’s TV division was operating.
MRC TV has had a busy year, landing countless broadcast and cable projects. Beyond the CW fare, MRC recently launched the Lifetime sitcom “Rita Rocks” and animated HBO comedy “The Life and Times of Tim.”
Production company is also behind ABC's upcoming animated laffer “The Goode Family.”
With such a hefty slate of freshman series in MRC's inaugural year, some industry execs have wondered whether the company has bitten off more than it can chew. (Some cite Artists Television Group, which similarly sold several series in its first year, only to be hit hard financially when none of those shows survived.)
MRC, however, has said that it’s well funded (indeed, it closed a three-year, $350 million revolving credit facility with a syndicate of banks led by JPMorgan Chase and Comerica earlier this fall).

CW to say goodbye to Sundays
Move to help network focus on Monday-Friday
By CYNTHIA LITTLETON
CW will be out of the Sunday programming business entirely as of next season.
The web confirmed late Monday it is in advanced talks with its affils to give up five hours of network time, 5-10 p.m., on Sunday, which has long been a weak spot for CW and its WB Network predecessor. CW said it decided to make the move in order to focus all of its programming resources on its Monday-Friday slate.
CW said backing out of Sunday entirely would be good for the network as well as for its affils. The low Sunday numbers drag down the net's weekly and season-long ratings averages, while affils are stuck with being off the primetime radar on the night and saddled with a weak lead-in to late newscasts.
Although local TV advertising sales have been hard hit by the economic downturn, stations would still rather have more control over the Sunday program lineup and the ability to keep more of the advertising time rather than be saddled with low-rated network fare.
It's understood that most CW affils are in the process of cutting deals for an expansive movie package from MGM on a barter advertising basis. That means stations pay no money upfront and will be able to hang onto as much as six to eight minutes of the 14-15 minutes of ad time in each hour, compared with three minutes of time in the network-supplied movie. And the titles in the package for the upcoming season are said to be a higher caliber of pics than the titles CW has been supplying affils.
In a statement, CW said the Sunday shuffle "would provide a new revenue opportunity for the stations, while at the same time expand upon our successful weekday strategy from this year, which resulted in ratings growth among our target audience."
Doug Gealy, prexy and chief operating officer of Acme Television, which owns five CW affils, said the decision to give the time back to the stations was the best move the CW could make under the circumstances.
"It's an opportunity for stations to counterprogram what the networks are doing with local programming, movies and off-network and in some places there might be opportunities for local sports," Gealy said. "If (CW) strengthens themselves Monday through Friday we'll all be better off."
Gealy also noted that the sudden availability of primetime real estate on CW affils will be a boon to the syndication biz. "Syndicators are going to be lining up to fill those time periods," he said.
CW took a half-step toward exiting the Sunday scene this season when it cut a deal that called for Media Rights Capital to provide all the programming for the 7-10 p.m. primetime block and help with the ad sales. But that deal proved disastrous when the first of the modestly budgeted shows that MRC delivered -- small-town drama "Easy Money" and fantasy dramedy "Valentine" --drew woefully low ratings despite decent reviews for "Easy Money," which starred Laurie Metcalf and Judge Reinhold.
By late November, CW scrapped the MRC arrangement in favor of a hastily put together movie package deal with MGM, using mostly older and lesser-known titles that the Lion had available on short notice. Not surprisingly, those titles haven't done much better than the MRC shows on a national basis for CW. Last week, for example, CW's 8-10 p.m. airing of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" drew a mere 1.2 million viewers and .3 rating/1 share in the adults 18-49 demo.
CW also inherited from its WB Network predecessor the 5-7 p.m. block that was carved out in 2002 for network reruns, as a way to help the WB amortize its programming costs. In recent years, those hours have been filled with a hodgepodge of CW fare and programs from the vaults of the net's parent companies, CBS Corp. and Warner Bros.
