Lewis Black's Root of All Evil

Does anyone else watch this? I love Lewis Black, but I was like "what the hell?" when this new Comedy Central show started this Spring. Now I'm hooked! (Especially when Patton Oswalt is on.)

They peaked early with Donald Trump. There really isn't anything more evil than that. (well, maybe Dr. Phil) (or possibly Andy Dick) Now they seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel. (really - "the human body"?)

It's kind of a fun show, but it really doesn't play to Lewis Black's strengths. He's hilarious at standup, where he's given a chance to rant at length and work himself up into a good angry lather over how stuipid the world is. Having him just sit and listen to other people, and then make a couple of quips and render a judgment seems like something anybody else could do.

I was really hoping that Comedy Central woujld give him a (left wing version of) Dennis Miller kind of show. Rumor has it that he's supposed to be in the American remake of 'Father Ted', which really confuses me because I can't imagine which part he'd be right for. If it's true, I can only hope they create a new character for him.

This is going to sound like a weird statement, but I like this show even though I don't think it's very good.

I am a huge fan of stand-up comedy, and routinely hit all the Los Angeles comedy clubs. I own so many stand-up comedy CDs and DVDs that I lost track of how many I actually own.

I really enjoy Lewis Black's stand-up, as well as the stand-up of Patton Oswalt and Greg Giraldo, who are frequent guests on the show. I suppose that's why I like it, because I like the comics who are on it. However, the show just isn't very funny. There's maybe a chuckle or two per episode, but I'd prefer to just watch these guys do traditional stand-up.

I'll probably keep watching the show for a while just to see if it evolves into something better, but I expect that I'll give up at some point.

I think it's a riot. I try to catch it whenever it's on.

I watched the first 2 episodes, and was unimpressed.

You could apply that statement to Comedy Central as well.

Well, that's taking things a little too far.

Their original "Comedy Central Presents" and other stand-up comedy is great.

The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are great.

Can't say much about their other programming.

Lewis Black is my favorite comedian, and I think this show sucks.

I think it's a good show, and a nice showcase for comedians. I do agree that it's not exactly what I'd want out of a Lewis Black program. I much prefer his rants on The Daily Show.
