I'm suprised they didn't spend more time familiarizing us with the contestants. Other than that it was awesome.

This is the fun of the show.

Like any Line Cook is going to be picked to run a resturant

All I want to see is Ramsey chew them out.

j123vt_99 04-02-08 09:51 AM

For some reason, I really got a kick out of the beginning with Gordon on the bus. Not sure if that had been done before, but it seemed really creative to me

I also noticed that we have yet again another group of chefs(I use that term loosely) that are chain smokers.

That was the single, funniest 'clean' line Gordon Ramsay has ever said on any of his shows. I was mid-sip on some Iced Tea and he goes "He's running around back there like a little toilet brush" and I choked on it.

Still, the best line ever was at the Coastal Spain restaurant on BBC Kitchen Nightmares, where he called their steak kabobs "swinging donkey dicks".

I love the interplay between Ramsay and JP, and I wish they'd show more of it. They seem to really have a good time together, and they most certainly fuck with each other on Ramsay's F-Word on the BBC...

RichC2 04-02-08 10:12 AM

Yeah, Ramsay seems like a cool guy, I remember seeing that F-Word where him and Ricky Gervais were discussing sales strategy for Plopp chocolate and (shot of) Spunk vodka. Good stuff.

slop101 04-02-08 10:23 AM

And again, what could be a fun show is rendered unwatchable by Fox's ridiculous cutting and editing.

Mopower 04-02-08 10:45 AM

Why does he call people Donkey's. Is that some kind of major slam in the UK?

donkey = jackass = ass

zuffy 04-02-08 11:24 AM

Love the show and this year seem worse than last year. No clear winner.

Then why doesn't he just say dumbass?

zuffy 04-02-08 11:36 AM

Maybe it's because he's bloody English?

They film the show off Le Brea right ? There's a 99 cent store across the street, i think. ( behind the compound )

For some reason I think Tyra Banks has done that

nateman 04-02-08 01:03 PM

Anyone else think Gordon looked like Craig T. Nelson while he was spying on the new contestants?

BTW, Gordon's best line in the US version of "Hell's Kitchen" has been the "Giraffe" comment.

DJariya 04-02-08 01:20 PM

I was LMAO the entire hour. Great to see Gordon back!!

I have to say that the Guy team is looking like a bunch of jackasses right of the bat. Defiitely no clear standout yet, but the fun of this show is seeing Gordon go off on these idiots.

bunkaroo 04-02-08 02:07 PM

This years contestants are the worst bunch. I am now convinced they are purposely looking for morons and people who don't know shit about cooking.

Either that or they can't get any good contestants any more. There is not one person in this cast I would want to win. I hope they bend the rules so everyone can fail. :)

Agreed. I was thinking when they finished the dinner service that he was just going to let everyone go. and bring in a new 'cast'

TomOpus 04-02-08 06:33 PM

Wow, I can't believe the first one kicked off the show was a "Mr. Mom" with no professional cooking experience Was his hair real? Nice chicken parmigiana, though. At least Gordon isn't throw it up

That sucks. They might be desperate for ratings and take the drama queens over legitimately capable constestants, as reality shows will do. I'm a fan of the show but missed the opener so I'll get a read next week. Show can be fun if you've ever worked in a kitchen before.

islandclaws 04-03-08 07:59 PM

A lame group of people I couldn't care less about... which makes watching Gordon rip them to shreds even more satisfying!

Glad to see Mr. Mom go. He would have been this season's Aaron.

I don't see anyone becoming an executive chef, and there isn't even any good ass to look at this season! Oh well, still good to see Gordon back in the swing of things.

No, she does that kinda thing on her talk show all the time though. A fat girl. A homeless person. Oprah. Who will Tyra pretend to be next???

shanester 04-06-08 06:45 AM

I love Chef Ramsey as well. Never get tired of his F'n tirades!!

"Don't set the place on fire you donkey"

No, he's Scottish.

And anyone that actually "notices" that the chefs are chain-smokers obviously hasn't spent a lot of time in food service... Everyone in the restaurant industry smokes. Well, not everyone, obviously. I'd bet if you scientifically surveyed the industry, the level of smokers in the restaurant biz is probably 60% or higher.
