The Mole

Is it coming back? I noticed ABC showing micro-second clips of "The Mole" between commercials during tonight's shows (Miss Guided and Lost).

Saw that too. Initially thought it was the cable company playing "local" commercials over the "network" commercials, which they do sometimes..

The Mole is returning to ABC for the first time in four years. The network has placed a 10-episode order to Stone & Co. Entertainment (Tim Gunn's Guide to Style), and casting and pre-production are already underway, with shooting scheduled to start this spring for a run this summer. An ABC executive said the network planned on reviving the reality competition series even before the writers' strike. The first two editions of The Mole, which aired in 2001 and 2002, earned ABC's top ratings among adults 18-34 for both years. ABC also ran two seasons of Celebrity Mole in 2003 and 2004. The resurrected show will return to the original format, without celebrities, though there will be small tweaks. ''We simplified it to where the people at home can play along,'' said Stone & Co. principal Scott Stone. ''And the quiz will be much shorter than in the past.'' No host has been chosen yet. Anderson Cooper hosted the first two editions, and Ahmad Rashad hosted the celebrity versions.

I'm really glad it's coming back. This show and "The Amazing Race" are probably the 2 of the best reality shows ever.

I hope they don't tweak it too much in order to "dumb it down". I loved the first two seasons (best reality show ever) but hated Celebrity mole.

It was weird how twice during lost the logo appeared for a brief second.

Since you posted in the thread mrpayroll lists above, I'm guessing that's the place.

''We simplified it to where the people at home can play along,''

Translation - we dumbed it down.

A shame, too. I believe that Mensa named the show one of the most intelligent on TV (the first two seasons, not the abomination of Celebrity Mole).

+ got rid of celebrities
- likely to have a host that won't hold a candle to Anderson Cooper

I'll probably watch, but I know it's not going to compare to the 1st two seasons.

Odd, yet interesting, tidbit: the guy who plays the ship captain on Lost was the host of The Mole in Australia.
