By Kristin Dos Santos Mon Aug 11, 12:40 PM PDT Donna Martin has left the zip code. Sources confirm that Tori Spelling has pulled out of the CW's 90210 spinoff because she is not receiving equal pay with her former costars Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty. I'm told by insiders that Tori asked for a rate hike after discovering that Jennie and Shannen were signed for $40,000 to $50,000 per episode, while Tori was getting less than $20,000 per episode. Her request was denied, so Tori backed out of the deal altogether. The show's rep at the CW says: "The CW has no deal with Tori Spelling to appear on 90210 at this time." And Tori's rep says the same: "At this point there are no plans for Tori to appear on the 90210 spinoff." Clearly, there is still time for the CW to pony up the cash and resign Tori to the series, and this now-public display of inequality may be just the motivation to do so. I spoke with Tori recently, and she told me she was happy to see Shannen coming onto the show. "I think that is such a huge plus for the fans, the reason I'm coming back is for the fans, because we have amazing fans. So for them to see the original, to see Brenda Walsh on the show is huge." |
^ Seems fair. Only half of her is worth looking at, why pay for something no one cares about?

I think Nat will be interesting on the show. I wonder if he is still gonna just be chilling and owning/working at the "Pit". I can see them saying that Kelley and Dylan broke up (obviously leaving room for him to return somewhere down the road.) This isn't a promo, but an interview with the cast which was on Entertainment Tonight. (http://www.etonline.com/news/2008/08/64162/index.html )

No big deal if Tori Spelling doesn't want to do the shows. I'm sure there are other former cast members that will be willing to appear in the show...

I say bring back Val. |
Is this new version of the show from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas?
If so, I may check it out just for that - but I doubt it'll be any good - for the record, I hated the original 90210... |

Tiffani Theissen already said no. Jason Priestly is only willing to work behind the scenes as a director. The only one that hasn't been accounted for is Gabrielle Carteris and I doubt she will be appearing either. |

I don't think this show will do that well, they should of have remade Melrose place instead
|
From everything that I have read, The CW's entire future is at stake with this show.
|
Dawn will probably be gone by December if this is not a rating success (in CW standards...)

Isn't she having garage sales on her reality show to pay the bills?? I think they should bring Ma and Pa Walsh back. |

Hmmm. I would think his back is already against the wall. |
Only a few more weeks...
I'm going to guess and say this show will get a 4.2 for its premiere (average, since it will be 2 hours). It will steadily drop and maintain a 3.4/3.5 becoming one of The CW's biggest hits. |

I'm in the young male demographic...I shouldn't even be watching the network! Yet I find myself tuning in for at least 4 shows this fall (Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210, Privledged) and another in early 09 (Reaper).

I finally saw a commercial for it on E! last night (right after The Soup made fun of the show and Tori Spelling). It makes a point to show Garth and that bitch
|
From perezhilton.com
Shannen Speaks! Shannen Doherty is working hard at cleaning up her image. The diva is trying to get rid of the bitch persona she has and trying to show a mature and serious side. Even when speaking of former (and now again current) castmate Jennie Garth, she has nothing but "nice" things to say. Doherty tells TV's Extra of her experience filming again with Garth that "It's been a really nice experience…We already have our little inside jokes." Awwww, how cute. And totally not believable! As for Garth, she says, "It is what it is. It's fine…No crazy drama's going on." YET! Lori Loughlin and Rob Estes, who'll be playing the parents on 90210 (2.0), even have some inside news to share. Estes says, "It's not a mom and dad who are home eating bon bons. It's a couple who's fucking! We'll clear the kitchen so fast, you don't know what to do with yourself." Garth also admits that the new show is a bit raunchy. She says, "My kids are by no means ready to watch this 90210." But the question now remains, will Tori Spelling return to 90210??? What would her dad say! Tori Spelling lover, Garth, adds, "I'm really sad that it hasn't happened yet. And I'm very hopeful that it will happen." Tori is reportedly back in talks with the producers to try and get a better salary offer. |
If its raunchy, it will fit in well with the likes of Gossip Girl, looking forward to next Tuesday.
|
1 more week...can't friggin wait!
|
I watched this show religiously when I was a pre-teen. My little sister says she used to feel "cool" because I'd let her watch it with me  Both of us will be tuning in to check it out :D
|
I think I'm going to give it a shot. I have been, and probably always will be a sucker for teen drama shows.
|
Dude, I completely agree--- being in the demographic or not, they are doing a hell of a job promoting and getting me interesting in 90210. Jennie and Shannen are completely taking the limelight and I LOVE it! Check out this EW cover..FIERCE!
http://cdn.buzznet.com/media/jj1/200...reunion-01.jpg |
I saw that cover last night on EW.com.
Wow!! Great cover!!:drool: I normally throw out my EW's once I finish reading them, but I think I will keep this one. |
They are promoting this show here in Canada too. The Canadian network that has the rights for 90210 (Global) aired two "classic" episodes in primetime yesterday and I think that one of the sister stations (TVtropolis) will be running a marathon of the "old" Beverly Hills 90210 episodes on Labour Day just in time for the premiere on Tuesday.
|
The CW is scheduled to repeat the two hour premiere on Thursday from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
So if you mess up your recording or plan to watch something else on Tuesday, you have a second chance to catch the premiere via the TV. LB... |
LaxBandit --- What did you think about the premiere? I loved it. I thought it was just as good and the original! The new cast is awesome. I really loved the story lines from the get go and only look forward to the entire season. My favorite character is Silver. She seems really feisty. Nice to know I have a new show to watch this fall now!
P.S. How cute is the English teacher!! :) |
from imdb
Officials at a leading U.S. family group are calling for advertisers to boycott TV network the CW over a controversial scene in the new Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off 90210. Just 10 minutes into the new series, which debuted in America last week, lead actor Dustin Milligan appeared to be receiving fellatio from a girlfriend in his truck - and the scene has upset the Parents Television Council. In a statement, PTC president Tim Winter writes, "The CW Network has openly, wantonly and eagerly violated every business tenet of the broadcast industry. "They shocked viewers during the family hour by depicting high school children engaged in oral sex in their car. It's such a sucker punch to viewers and a lot of families. No one tuned in to 90210 thinking, 'Hey, maybe I will get to see (oral sex).'" Network bosses are fighting back, insisting the controversial scene was screened for advertisers before the show aired - and no one took issue with what they saw. A CW statement reads, "For the record, 90210 was screened in advance of broadcast through the customary advertiser screening service." This is the latest in a string of disputes between the CW and the PTC - the watchdog group has been very critical of the network's racy Gossip Girls series. One critique, calling the show "mind-blowingly inappropriate", has been used to publicise the project. |
Why doesn't the parents council just shut up and let the show get cancelled on its own? That seems much more likely than any kind of boycott ever working.
Just curious -- when will these dumb groups actually learn that these stupid calls for "boycotting" just brings more attention to the show itself? |
That boycott seems silly to me. There are plenty of other shows on television past and present that are just as "racy" if not more. Especially in this day and age when famous teenage actresses are really having babies... (i.e. Jamie Lynne Spears...to name one.) People should just understand that even though the show is set in "high school", the target audience for the show is probably 18-34 demographic, not 15 year olds.

Did anyone see last night?! The father of Kelly's baby was revealed! I don't want to give anything away, but YAY! I am really just wrapped into this show and its only been 3 episodes! I keep counting down till next week's episode before the current one is even done!
