Jericho---"Termination for Cause"---3/11/08

Only 2 episodes left after tonight.

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Jake and the Rangers square off in a battle for survival against Goetz and Ravenwood, while one of the Rangers takes a course of action that will alter his life forever.

Scorpio 03-11-08 10:02 PM

FUCK YEAH! Now that episode rocked!

Silly Burrito 03-11-08 10:08 PM

I didn't think that they'd let Stanley do that, but I guess with 2 episodes left, no one is off limits.

MAN, I hope they renew this show. It's the only thing I look forward to watching during the week.

aktick 03-11-08 10:10 PM

Good episode, but it seems like things have kind of been sloppily put together in terms of writing this season.

So Goetz was removed from duty by Ravenwood - Beck should be informed of this pretty quick, so he should realize Goetz wasn't on the up and up, and therefore shouldn't take any action without getting all of the facts.

And all of this Bonnie/Mimi/Goetz ordeal over $10,000? Doesn't seem like much to go on a killing spree over. Wouldn't it have been easier for the Jericho people to put on a fundraiser for poor old Goetz to get him his $10,000? Maybe $10,000 is a lot in the "new" America.

Still, enjoying this season, and am going to make sure and enjoy the last 2 as much as possible, since I'm sure this will be the LAST 2. :(

Jimmy James 03-11-08 10:42 PM

By the time somebody has found it out, it's not $10,000 -- it's losing all that power that you lord over the county or whatever unit they're using in vertical stripes land.

I imagine if Goetz thought he'd be caught, fired, and killed over it all, he probably would have either gone for a much bigger sum and would have fled or he would have made his $10,000 by shaking down people instead of stealing from J&R.

I speculated last week that it is completely implausible that Goetz didn't search that house and find Mimi, and I say it again this week. You don't go shooting the beloved deaf girl and taking the ledger only to leave the Mimi question open in any way.

Red Dog 03-11-08 10:47 PM

This ain't your kindler gentler Jericho anymore.

Maybe $10,000 is a lot in the "new" America.
That was the only explanation I could think of.

I really don't think that this is the only $10,000 Goetz has stolen. It's simply the evidence that would probably lead to much more.

Even if this was the first time he has strayed (and it might have been -- I get the idea he was pretty much in the lawless area mode until this assignment), it's a sure sign that he's not looking out for the company/government first and foremost. You can't trust him. Honestly, I'm just surprised that the Ravenwood guy didn't have him shot then and there.

jonnyquest 03-11-08 11:08 PM

Finally...Goetz gets got!

I was surprised the Ravenwood guy "disarmed" Goetz's crew, but allowed them to keep their handguns.

I got a bit confused about everything that was going on there. It seemed from one shot that they were disarming them all and putting everybody but Goetz on the truck to be redeployed (which would make sense). They then went to Goetz and a group of guys with handguns. If we get DVDs with commentary, I have to wonder if they had to cut footage or scramble to accommodate a rewrite without additional shooting or something.

The way I saw it was, they were disarming Goetz's crew (maybe "disarm" refers to automatic rifles only). Then the woman said something like "Make them walk back", and the vehicles drove away. Then after the vehicles got out of sight, the Jericho patrol made their move, and the shootout began.

You know...I truly hate that they made the show this good. Maybe if we can get the lunatics to send in a bunch of nuts we'll get a resolution movie or something.

Patman 03-12-08 01:14 AM

I actually shed a tear when Stan was signing his last words to Bonnie. A nice touch.

This episode was extra minty goodness.

kvrdave 03-12-08 01:18 AM

Great show. I figured they only took the rifles because they were Ravenwood issue.

argh923 03-12-08 02:11 AM

Amazing episode. One more reason why this show should be renewed.

pelenor 03-12-08 03:33 AM

Favorite scene of the night.

Jake: They tried to use you as bait?

Hawkins: They tried.

Man, I would watch a show with Hawkins just doing what he does.

mytzplyx 03-12-08 03:57 AM

Yaaaaaay. Hawkiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiins!!!!

That was the only explanation I could think of.

Alternate explanation: Mimi found "tip of iceberg" and hasn't uncovered the full depth of his thievery yet. It is small enough she may have thought it was an isolated act by a small player. There COULD be much more. Just a theory.

Gunde 03-12-08 08:45 AM

So have have this short season 2 been so far for you guys who hated season 1?

Hawkins is a total badass. He's the new Jack Bauer. Seriously, all we need is Jake and Hawkins. Everyone else seems to make stupid decision after stupid decision.

The signing scene was surprisingly touching - equally surprising was Stanley pulling the trigger on Goetz.

Also was very (pleasantly) surprised with what Newburn did with that body as a warning to Ravenwood.

Damn am I going to be pissed when/if this thing gets canceled. The devotion of the fans made me give this show a try when Universal HD started playing the reruns, and now I'm absolutely hooked.

I doube many that are watching hated season 1. Season 1 got really slow in the middle, and that was made far worse by the hiatus between the first and second half because a lot of people forgot about it because the second half of the first half was quite forgettable.

If the first season had all been like this, everyone would love it.

I didn't hate S1. The town stories never did anything for me and were laughably boring, but the Hawkins/coup plot kept me around. Since that is what they decided to focus on in S2, it's been a huge improvement.

Quatermass 03-12-08 11:16 AM

Great Episode! They are still saying "Final two episodes of the season" in the promo spots, so maybe they haven't made up their minds yet. If it is cancelled, I hope they tie up some loose ends, rather than a rushed tacked-on ending like Millennium.
Spoiler:

Jake: Come on Hawkins, let's take this bomb to the town square so everyone knows about it.

Hawkins: Okay, Jake.

Jake : Whoops!

--MUSHROOM CLOUD--

The END

?

I watched 4 eps on my PVR yesterday that I had been saving (including this one) and DAMN, Jericho got good. Great ep last night, loved the scene with Stanley signing to Bonnie. Can't wait to see how they finish up the season.
