When Desmond told him he thought it was 1996 and Daniel Faraday (the character) told him to get on a train and meet him at his school, I think that works better than if Jeremy Davies (the actor) told him to get on a plane and meet him on the set of Twister. |
YES!! Last nights episode solidified this theory even more! The timelines, the path, Penny knowing about the island because her father got the book from Hanso, Desmond... It's all here. I am still waiting for someone to discount this theory, but it's not happening

They would have had to with what we've seen. |

Maybe I'm missing something, but wasn't the calendar just marking off the days as they passed? Many people I know do this. Great episode, though. The actor who plays Desmond is fantastic. |
For me, this was a top 5 all time episode of Lost. So good from start to finish.
Can't wait to see where they go from here. (I never watch the previews and try to avoid spoilers, I think the best way to enjoy this show is just to let it come to you). |

Since Desmond made contact with Penny, he's ok? And for how long? Do you think he'll need to talk to her periodically? And does he remember Sayid now?
Unbelievably good episode, that last little snippet between the two of them didn't sit right for me. |

My main complaint is that it took the whole episode to explain what was going on, when I figured it out right away. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop but it never did. Also, I'm not sure why, after explaining that the constant is something that you really care about, Faraday picks Desmond -- a dude he barely knows (in either timeline). |

Similar to Lorraine meeting Calvin Klein in 1955 ;) |

Excellent episode.
I hope Henry Ian Cusick win an Emmy for this episode. |

So, yeah, I'm not reading the whole thread, but I was finally able to watch the ep this morning at work. Wow - that was pretty fucking good. |

Unbelievably good episode, that last little snippet between the two of them didn't sit right for me. The final scene with his 2004 self calling Penny while we see his 1996 self walk from the apartment showed, to me, that his timeline continued from that point through everything else we've seen and he's whole again on the freighter in 2004. I think he's fully aware of the intervening 8 years now - including "his friend Charlie" that Penny mentioned on the phone. This episode blew my mind and I loved every second of it. |
Mind blowing episode. Not sure if it tops the season 3 finale, but damn, definitely top 3. I'm damn glad I'm caught up. I've missed being a part of the discussions.

Since I was behind what was the consensus on the full plane found underwater?
Maybe I'm late to the party on this as well, but does anyone else think the opening title is a metaphor for the show? Starts off blurry gets crystal clear and blurs again towards the end. The plot starts off confusing as hell, we start to get some answers and it appears to be getting clearer only to leave us wondering when it's all said and done. |
I liked this episode a lot, but there is an issue with the mouse. Faraday zapped the mouse, her conciousness went into the future where he had taught her to run the maze, and so she was able to run it when her conciousness came back. But the mouse died before Faraday teaches her to run the maze, so she never learns how to run it, and thus wouldn't have known how to run it after the expiriment. I know, time paradox and it should probably just be written off, but maybe there's more to it.

Now I'm not going to say that you can just teach a mouse to run a maze in 15 minutes to an hour, but there was still enough room in the narrative of the show to allow for the instruction without causing this paradox. |
