Damn that Kate! Violating her parole! She better stay on the island next time.

Rendle 02-21-08 10:59 PM

Great episode. The reveals at the end of the last two episodes is really building up the circumstances of the 6(7?) leaving the island. Do you guys think the end of the series will revolve around the oceanic six get off the island or something that happens after Jack's flashforward in Through the Looking Glass?

d.) Jack didn't identify the person as friend or family.
e.) Kate seemed to be repulsed at the idea of attending the funeral.

My guess:
Spoiler:
I still think it's Ben. He is the only person shown to make it off the island who knows how to get back to it. Kate can't stand him. Jack might know he is working with Sayid finding these mystery people. If Ben is dead, their is a big chance he was finally found and the island survivors might be at greater danger if Ben gave the location of the island up. This pushes Jack over the edge even more.

Spoiler:
My guess...Michael, now more than ever. I think he is ben's man on the boat. maybe he plays a role in whatever happens to claire. The clipping said he hangs himself correct, maybe he can't live with himself because of what goes down on the boat. Kate wouldn't go to his funeral after that. Jack might feel guilty for Claire's demise and feel a connection with Michael that's why he attends his funeral. I never really thought the man in the box was michael, but i think that is becoming more likely...

is everyone forgetting the clipping revealed part of the name. Werent the letters "JA ATHAM " visible? How could it be Michael, or Ben?

Spoiler:
Michael was my second choice, but wouldn't that make him one of the Oceanic 6,er however many there are? Surely news crews in this day and age would be covering the death of a 815 survivor.

I believe Michael is tha man on the boat, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Ben was using Walt the entire time instead. Walt spent more time with the others than Michael, and they are convinced he can appear in different places he shouldn't be at, like Ms. Klugh mentioned to Michael in season two. I also keep coming back to Walt telling Michael that they're not who they say they are. Walt seems to know quite a bit more about whats going on then the other characters, or even the viewers!

They said recently they wanted viewers to know that when they get off the island the show isn't over. They havn't given away the end of the show. More than likely the final season revolves around Jack and company going back. Thats just my guess though. Obviously something will have to happen.

Well it can easily be Ben. He has/is using fake names off the island. This was confirmed in last week's episode where we saw the passports/briefcases.

Not me. I thought "Erin/Arron" was Sawyer's first name. I thought that Kate actually was pregnant with his baby and named it after him. I had to come on here to find out who the baby really was. (I'm not good with names)

Not only that, but we're also dealing with a show where there's smoke monsters, ghosts, the dead talking to people, miraculous healings going on, and the one in a zillion chance that 6 numbers found on the island are the same 6 winning numbers a lottery winner had who crashed on the island.

In other words, nothing on this show can be that far fetched.

I want to know if we will see Richard and the other "others" this season. Now that Cane has been canceled, and filming of the final 5 episodes starting very soon (still writing), they could squeeze Richard back in...

Keith123 02-22-08 12:36 AM

I missed something, why does Jack not want to accept Kate and the baby as a package deal?

Artman 02-22-08 12:41 AM

Has this been the furthest flash-forward so far time-wise? When does the bearded Jack "we have to go back" take place.... before tonight's flash forward or after?

I would say this flash was sooner, because I would figure Kate would need to deal with legal problems a soon as she was home, and she was free in the bearded episode...

Bingo.

Son of Odin 02-22-08 01:17 AM

Jack feels uncomfortable around Kate and baby aaron maybe because of the way Kate got the baby. I think Jack doesn't like how Kate got aaron because something bad happens. either way, kate is a person that can never be trusted. I didn't like this new angle with aaron being with kate because it throws desmond' visions out the window. dez had charlie sacrifice himself because he said claire and the baby get off the island. this show is getting frustrating. this episode opened up MORE worms. not enough questions being answered. who is the guy that wants Ben? for every 1 answer we get 12 more questions.

The wife asked me what happened to the other "others" tonight, too - particularly the "cute" one (aka Richard). It's been, what, roughly 2-3 days since they ambushed the camp?

Axeramm 02-22-08 01:45 AM

I didnt read the first 3 pages of this post so something may have been said already, but didnt we learn that Jack's father is also Claires which would make the baby his nephew? Or did i totally dream that?

cracksky 02-22-08 01:55 AM

They played this whole episode up like Kate was mad at Sawyer for not wanting her baby so I was totally surprised by the Aaron reveal at the end. Plus, with Jack not wanting to see Kate's kid I was thinking again it was Sawyer's but he was still on the island. Even when I first see the kid and it has blond hair, I say to myself, "Sawyer's the dad."

Yeah, because why wouldn't Jack want to see his own nephew?

After it sinks in a bit and I come here and read some thoughts I start thinking further that maybe something happened on the island to Claire AND the baby and this really is Kate and Sawyer's child whom they've named Aaron after Claire's son. Welcome to theory central. :D

My guess is that Claire dies and Jack somehow feels he was responsible, so he just can't face Aaron because the guilt is too great. I can't think of many other reasons why he would never want to see his nephew.

That certainly appears to be the explanation that makes the most immediate sense. I just doubt that it will end up being that easy to figure out. Someone mentioned it earlier, but I think Charlie's appearance in the first episode was telling. Who knows though.

By the way, Kate getting off on all those other laws she broke was a little hard to believe.

The guilt the Oceanic 6 are all feeling, I think, is leaving everyone else behind on the island and having to constantly lie about it. Jack will sometime between now and the flash forwards in this episode, find that Claire is his sister. So take your point about the guilt Jack would feel everytime he saw Aaron (knowing that they left Aaron's blood mother -- his half-sister -- behind on the island), and couple it with the fact that Jack's nephew is now being raised by Kate and another man (maybe Sawyer, maybe somebody we haven't met yet), when Jack obviously still loves Kate, and we might begin to realise how hurt Jack would be to see Aaron.

Maybe Jason Statham shows up in a future episode as himself. Kinda like the Harlem Globetrotters on Scooby Doo.

treszoks 02-22-08 07:29 AM

Remember that Claire almost died when Ben triggered the implant in her and Juliet had to give her a shot to help her? Maybe Ben turns that on again or it's triggered when she tries to leave the island and there's no one to help her this time.

Anybody have thoughts on the scene where Daniel tries to guess the playing card sequence?
