right, of course. but, you are telling me that 40+ are still going to be there in the end. i don't think so. not everyone is going to have a reason for staying, so there is no way they can be left behind with no rescue missions being conducted to determine anyone elese there. they won't go on just the survivors word that they were the only ones, would they?

It was pretty clear early in the episode how it might turn out.

So is Aaron one of the 6 or 8? Not sure why he wouldn't be. And how old was he at the end? 2-ish?
It probably has to do with the time issues. I have to watch it again but Kate's mother believed Kate was dead for four years.

also, i keep seeing Zoe Bell's name on the credits...is she the voice on the ship? i would love to see her pop up from now on. after seeing the featurette about her on "Deathproof" and wanting to see her documentary, i would love for her to get more recognition.

Oh sure, forgot about that already.

There have been instances when only one or a few people survived plane crashes. Juliane Köpcke was the sole survivor of one where her plane disintegrated two miles above ground and hiked out of the jungle to get help. 91 other people died. Cecelia Cichan was the sole survivor on a flight that killed 154 people. So it wouldn't be a stretch to fabricate a story where there are eight survivors.

The least interesting episode of the year so far. Next week looks crazy.

The real question is under what circumstances does Claire give Aaron to Kate. Desmond told Charlie the vision of Claire and Aaron being rescued by the helicopter so obviously something bad happens. Does this go back to the pregnant women dieing on the island somehow?

I don't think it'll be too long before we start seeing this story unfolding from the freighter.

I think they only die if they conceive on the island. Right?

It's really hard to feel any sympathy at all for Kate, isn't it? Her having "custody" of Aaron now doesn't do anything to help that. Maybe it will turn out Claire dies so she's just taking care of him because of that, but taken at face value it looks like she may have taken him without Claire's blessing.

As predicted, it's not that easy to find the freighter either.
Didn't the psychic end up telling her to give the baby up after all so that she would end up on the flight/island? That seems to indicate that his prior readings were either incorrect, that her being on the island takes precedence over the prior reading, or that someone from one of the island-meddling companies got to him to make sure Claire got on that plane.

It's pretty clear Aaron isn't one of the Oceanic 6 since his name was never on the flight manifest. The Oceanic 6 probably refers specifically to people who bought a ticket for the flight and thus got paid off by Oceanic Airlines when rescued.

The psychic told her that a couple was waiting for her in L.A. to adopt the baby but he was lying. He knew that it was a sure-fire way to get her to go on that particular flight. Flight 815. He insisted.

He first tried the truth but when that didn't work he got desperate and lied. Remember, only he knows what happens if someone ELSE raises Aaron. Maybe we'll see that now too.

Think about it.

At the last episode of season 3, Kate says that she didn't know about the funeral and wouldn't have attended if she did. Based on the current episode, she obviously cares for Aaron. She also says "I've got to go, he'll wonder where I am", probably referring to Aaron based on this episode.

Ugh. Nothing worse than a bunch of orchestrated camera-zooms and swelling music to obvious reveals. This show's typically less telegraphed. I blame this Gregg Nations guy.

Over 3 years on this show and Evie still can't say "sorry" like an American.

Always great to see Susan Gibney. Shoulda been Janeway. Shoulda been Seven. But at least she still gets work now and then. It's a shame the former Crossing Jordan writers couldn't get her a more consistent part.

Yea, I guessed it well in advance of the reveal.

It's kinda strange though that she is thinking her 4-5 year old is worried about where she is. Maybe she just said that because she didn't want to listen to Jack? She obviously had no interest in going back to the island.

Yeah, that makes sense. I think Ben is too important of a character now to be in the coffin. I think whomever is in the coffin is a new character.

What could a small child have done to have caused NO ONE to come to his funeral? Nothing. Not him. Gotta be someone with little or no family and universally despised on the island.

My guess

No, the paper said a man from New York. My thoughts:
Spoiler:
We (my kids and I) have thought for a couple of weeks that Claire was going to die and that's why Charlie appeared to Hurley. Hurley feels guilty for Claire's death because she only went with Locke because he did and he went with him because of what Charlie said. So Charlie wants Hurley to help the ones left behind. I think Jack made up the whole story he told at the trial. He had to say that to go along with their cover up about the island. The plane was supposed to have crashed in the water (according to what Oceanic said) so that's what he said. For whatever reason, they can't tell that there are others alive that were left behind. He said that 8 lived and Kate saved them but 2 ended up dying. In the credits, it listed two year old boy which was the older Aaron. I thought he was at least 3. We weren't at all surprised when it was Aaron that Kate went home to. We even thought during the first flash forward that it could be a child she needed to get back to.
The other thing we thought could be that the Oceanic 6 were brainwashed by the Dharma people (I think at least some are Dharma) that are there to "rescue" them. They are made to believe the story they are telling until the real memories start breaking through and Jack and Hurley start to go crazy.

Here are the clues we have to go by:

a.) I think the newspaper clipping said it was a man. Can't remember that one.
a.) African American neighborhood
b.) No one else showed up at funeral
c.) Jack was obsessivly looking for the island at the time.
d.) Jack didn't identify the person as friend or family.
e.) Kate seemed to be repulsed at the idea of attending the funeral.

My guess:
Spoiler:
I still think it's Ben. He is the only person shown to make it off the island who knows how to get back to it. Kate can't stand him. Jack might know he is working with Sayid finding these mystery people. If Ben is dead, their is a big chance he was finally found and the island survivors might be at greater danger if Ben gave the location of the island up. This pushes Jack over the edge even more.

When I heard the Aaron is with Kate spoiler a few weeks ago, I thought it was so fucking dumb that it couldn't possibly be true.

Yet here we are. I should go back and read more of that guy's posts. He was saying a bunch of things and people were really giving him the business. I bet he feels pretty good right now.

Clearly something happens to Claire. Truth is that Kate probably doesn't want to go back, but HAS to for Claire, for Aaron. Something happens and Kate knows that Aaron can't be on the island without Claire, so she takes him.
