Indeed it was. But once again, King of the Hill brings it. Perhaps the Simpsons should follow and go back to telling an actual story, instead of stringing together a bunch of pop culture references and calling it an episode.

Martin playing the Bay City Rollers on the juke box was pretty funny, other than that it was pretty bad.

"This is Texas. The future home of Hakeem Olajuwon."

Other than that, nothing good.

The first two 'love stories' were weak, but I actually laughed through the "Sid and Nancy" sendoff.

CBGB = Comic Book Guy's Bar; the slo-mo trash sequence with Homer up above the alley.

I laughed at Burns and Allen & at the "West Leg" reference.

Am I the only one that was "squicked out" by the "Sid and Nancy" portion of the show? Don't get me wrong - as a teen in the mid 80s I *looked* a lot like Sid Vicious. And I've done every drug in the world *except* heroin. And hell, just to top it off, I've probably seen "Sid and Nancy" about 30 times.

While I liked some of the "little things" in this bit - especially Bart spitting the apple juice - I thought having a 10 and 8 year-old becoming addicted to chocolate (heroin) was a bit... disturbing. I know the Simpson kids have had "drug experiences" before - like Lisa tripping at Duff Gardens, or Bart's experiences with Focusin - but those were "accidental" occurrences (that I found funny, actually).

The whole "kids become addicted to chocolate\heroin" thing just struck me as being in bad taste, however.

I didn't really get what was funny about that - geeks like to use initialisms?

Hey at least it was a new episode, though I'm not a fan of mini-stories like they do in the halloween specials, but nonetheless it was a new episode

Just because you don't get it, doesn't mean it's not funny.

I agree.

It felt like I was watching a Tarantino movie.

This was, by far, the worst episode of The Simpsons ever. Absolute garbage.

Somehow I liked this episode. Not the best Simpsons, but not the total garbage everybody is saying.

If there is one constant with DVD Talk, it's that everyone will be in after a new Simpsons episode airs to declare that it's the worst episode ever and that the show hasn't been good for 5 years. Count on it.

Like you, I liked this episode. But I knew before I got here that the thread would be full of haters.

Yeah, I thought it was alright. It was certainly far better than the new Knight Rider, which most people on this board seem to be giving a pass to...

Don't forget the Blind Simpsons Supporters who follow immediately to declare the episode, no matter how devoid of laughter, one of the highlights of their life.

I fall squarely into the third category, those who neither loved nor loathed the episode. And I'm right on time.

There's another Simpsons constant here: When a new season is released on DVD there are tons of people saying "This was the last good season, I'll stop buying with this one."

Yeah, I've liked this season too, but I certainly don't have to like every episode. I recall myself defending other episodes.
