I wouldn't be surprised that the staffers at Inside the NFL will be split up between ESPN and NFL Network, two places that will guarantee that the staffers will get year-round work.

This was an awesome show for years but this past year I couldn't bare to watch it anymore; feel the same about NFL Countdown on ESPN. Football Night in America on NBC is great though.

Inside the NFL is back!!!

On Showtime

Just heard this during the ending credits on Penn and Teller Bullshit. I'm so excited, since I just got Showtime a few months back.

JAMES BROWN, PHIL SIMMS AND CRIS COLLINSWORTH TO HOST "INSIDE THE NFL"

I found the link here.

With this and Dexter coming back this fall I may have to sign back up for Showtime. I can't see any pressing need to keep HBO.

I don't get HBO anymore (unrelated), but glad to hear it's coming back. It was a great show when I watched it.

Simms AND Collinsworth?! That's all I need to hear to say 'I'll pass.'

I remember watching this back in the early 90's and seeing footage of the KC Chiefs (I believe) inside the locker room. And they videotaped several of them naked, schlong and all showing. I was shocked.

What's wrong with Collinsworth, other than the fact he seems to be employed by anyone and everyone regarding the NFL? Simms I understand. Collinsworth I do not.

I've never liked Collinsworth's on-air persona. He does know his stuff and is more articulate than most athlete-turned-broadcasters, but for some reason, I find him annoying. Regardless of what I view as an inferior cast though, I'll watch Inside the NFL regularly. The camerawork, voiceovers, and inside access is great.

Nothing concrete - I just never liked him (more in the booth than studio) and never found him particularly insightful. Plus like you said - way overexposed.

Honestly, these days, I don't care for most of the pro football (booth) analysts on television. The only one worth a damn is Jaws. I'll be interested to see how the preening schmo, Brian Billick, does for FOX this season.

I preferred if it stayed on HBO.

Costas is better than James Brown.

I just hope they show highlights of all the games including 49er highlights.

They only show highlights for the good teams and in the past they would show every game.

Showtime loves picking up HBO castways... now they are doing it with shows too... not complaining about showtime but their shows feature alot of people that were previosly on HBO shows

Simms and Marino are equally terrible so thats a wash. I have always found Costas to be an annoying little piss-ant so Brown is a huge upgrade imo. And Collinsworth isn't bad in small doses.

Well, I was a Collinsworth fan from back in 1981, so I'm hardly objective. That said, I can honestly say that Collinsworth is the greatest football commentator, ever. Solomon Wilcots and Boomer Esiason are pretty damn good too. Al Michaels (who used to do Reds Radio work before Marty Brennaman came along) is also great. And if you ever get to hear Bob Trumpy on Westwood One, he's top notch as well.

Tony Boselli is the worst. So is Tony Siragusa. In fact, all Tony's pretty much stink as commentators, including Kornheiser, only not as much.

Collinsworth is not a brown noser or state the obvious and he is not afraid to criticize which makes him a good analyst.

I like Bob Trumpy.

I wish CBS could get Trumpy and Dick Enberg back as a broadcasting team.

Almost everyone on FOX NFL Sunday is lousy except maybe Ron Pitts and Tim Ryan.
