Probably the worst year for ads in the past decade. FedEx, Pepsi and Coke (Both the Stewie and Carvell spots) were the only highlights.
The film spots for Wanted, Iron Man, and Wall-E weren't bad, but they don't count. |
The pepsi ad and the American idol ad with Ben Roethlisberger. I'm guessing he gets reamed next season by his teammates for that one.
|
Will Ferrell's Bud-Lite/Semi Pro ad was hilarious.

Shaq-Jockey was kinda funny. I thought the jockey slapped Shaq in the nuts the first time I saw it, but upon further review, he was just slapping Shaq's butt.

The Dwayne Wade Barkley - not bad
Tide - decent NFL SuperAD with the Oboe playing grocery bagger- Best of them all IMO |
I didn't think there was one good ad last night. The only one that made me laugh was the bud light caveman but not because of the commercial. It was because the first thought in my head was, "Are they going to give these cavemen their own show?"
I thought this was the worst year ever for Super Bowl ads. |

I thought they were decent
Charlie Brown getting the coke, I was expecting Lucy and a Football type miss I liked the Rocky Music and the Clydesdales I liked the Thriller lizards The Baby e-trades were creepy but funny Will Ferrell Bud LIght was pretty solid Iron Man looks great Wanted looks good Did not like the Dwayne Wade, or Roethelsberger commercials Fox sure spent a lot of money on the Sara Connor Chronicles promo, I hope it works. |

They most likely didn't sell the ad slots, so they had to fill the time internally. The networks would rather sell the ads for revenue than pump their shows during the Super Bowl.

Pretty disappointing. I was expecting more ads for the high-profile summer movies.
Also, Naomi Campbell is a terrible dancer. |
the career builder commercials were by far the stupidest commercials ever... especially the heart one
|
Were they? How about the blatantly racist salesgenie ads? I was shocked someone approved those. Stereotypical Indian and Chinese accents? Wow.
I can forgive that stuff when it's funny, but they were certainly not funny at all. |
I didn't see the Chinese one, but the Indian one seemed fine to me. Perhaps I would spot the pattern if I had seen them both, but I didn't see the intent for the accents to be funny, but just to be more memorable than generic businessmen seen in every other commercial.
I didn't catch them all, but of what I saw my favorite was the Dorito's giant rat. |
spainlinx, i cannot believe you are the first person to mention those salesgenie ads. those were horrible and sterotypical. i made a comment to the people i was watching with last night.
|
i forgot about the salesgenie one.... thats true

I enjoyed the Wall-E trailer although Buzz & Woody being there seemed kinda forced. That and Tom Hanks not lending his voice hurt it as well. At least we can count on Tim Allen always needing work, so Buzz will always have his talents behind him.
|
I liked the NFL one just because it was the only way the Houston Texans were going to get any type of TV time on Super Bowl Sunday.
|
Wow, I thought this year's ads were very very bad. On or two made me chuckle, one or two made me laugh, and the rest were just not good. Not funny, not effective, stuck somewhere around "trying too hard to be either clever or funny, but ended up being neither".
