I would've immediately guessed Hardcastle & McCormick (based on the car in my memory), but didn't figure anyone would go that far back. Doesn't look like the car anyway, now that I did an image search...

He looks familiar, seems to have been in more sitcoms than anything, but can't place him in any other show, or this one for that matter.

Is it Winchester from M.A.S.H? He was in Perry Mason and Matlock in the 80's.

I don't know why, but that looks like Taxi.

He was also in "Murder: She Wrote" (according to IMDB... I don't watch that show... seriously, I don't)

I think it is David Ogden Stiers, so Perry Mason was a good guess.
