When Does Futurama Begin?

It's not getting new episodes, per se. They are going to cut up the recently released DVD movie into episode sized bits.

I can't imagine that they are ONLY going to do that. I don't think Comedy Central would buy a series to ONLY show 16 episodes, I would imagine more would be produced after those are aired.

If the DVDs and subsequent airings do well, I imagine they will. I saw some news that Bender's Big Score has sold a million copies, so I imagine fox is happy.

I'm thinking that the episodic versions of each movie will not premiere until after they've been released on DVD first, so it depends on if Comedy Central wants to occasionally air a few new episodes as the DVDs come out, of will save them all up to air as one season.

RT: You're re-cutting the four DVD movies into television episodes. How is that working out?
RM: Each movie's going to be divided into four parts. It's not going to be just cut, cut, cut. They're going to try and edit them into separate pieces of a story.
RT: Is new animation going to be produced for the episodes?
RM: No. It's written in a way so that we can, like, move the third act [of one movie into an earlier part of an episode]. We'll tell Fry's story in one episode. We'll tell Bender's story in one episode.
RT: So it's like multiple perspectives on one long event.
