Once again, the next episode can't come soon enough. Preview did give away a lot, but still...very exciting stuff.

What is up with people still complaining about Lundy's ass shot? I guess after watching Oz multiple times I'm used to a lot more and take it in stride, but in any case, it's not a big deal.

Because they need to express how repulsed they are by the male body to show how straight they are ;)

Possibly a retcon due to the new plot point involving Harry's suicide?

Or, was that hospital episode a siginificant amount of time prior to Harry's suicide? I thought they used the regular actor who played young Dexter in that scene as opposed to Michael C. Hall playing his young self like last night. I think the suicide was supposed to take place a few years after the original kill (nurse), so perhaps Harry knew Dexter had already killed, but just had never seen it in person before. The shock of the reality of the situation may have been what put him over the edge.

Does that make sense or is my memory for shit?

Drop 12-03-07 02:42 PM

Dexter said Harry lived another year after he killed that nurse.

Remember, they said that after the Nurse died, Harry was doing better for 6 months or so, then died. This was just one of the victims in between that time.

Edit: Whoops, Drop already answered.

Ah. For some reason I thought the nurse situation was when Harry was on his death bed. I guess that makes more sense.

He was... but once Dexter killed her, he got better :)

Great episode (do I ever describe it another way?)

I really like what they're doing on the show now - giving Dexter (and the audience) moral dilemas. Dexter himself said that he couldn't kill Doakes since he didn't deserve it, since he only goes after those who are truly guilty, but never were punished. However, Dexter seems to have gone against his code of ethics with Doakes... he won't kill him, but he doesn't seem to have a problem framing him for the murders. In some ways framing him is just as bad as killing him - especially since it would ruin Doake's reputation.

Doakes seems to be showing some sympathy for Dexter and can almost understand why he does what he does. He seems conflicted.

Now Dexter may be questioning his actions of all those years. He's discovered that Harry killed himself because of his realization it was wrong to nurture Dexter's monsterous side (after seeing Dexter's actual actions). Dexter held the code of Harry very dearly, but it could all have been bullshit.

It almost feels like the next 2 episodes will conclude the whole series. This is just too damn interesting!

I loved the looks on Dexter and Doakes' faces at the end of the episode.

I can't believe this series is ending in two weeks. Another awesome episode.

redrum 12-03-07 10:53 PM

you mean season is ending?

Actually, no one knows at the moment.

It's their highest rated show. I doubt we won't get a 3rd season

I watched the preview of the next episode, and Im sure either that's Dexter dream or he just says it to an empty room.

After seeing Doakes reaction to Dexter killing someone just outside of his cage, I can see him either totally being sickened by it and not wanting to hurt anyone anymore (which we saw), or just lashing out and being more reckless out of anger. He has already shown signs of both.

So I guess Dexter has killed 48 people?

Giantrobo 12-04-07 07:17 PM

I missed this one. Is there a way to view eps online? I tried the dexter site and they only had the pilot.

There's no legal way to watch the episodes online. But it repeats several times during the week: http://www.sho.com/site/dexter/schedule.do

Just watched this episode. I was also confused by thinking Harry was on his deathbed when Dexter killed his first victim.

I was a Doakes fan before this episode but this was a great episode for him. His desperate efforts to convince Dexter not to kill that man immediately put the lie to Dexter's claim that they were similar. Then they cut to Dexter covered in blood after the act. That scene was just a one two punch of the psychological and physical horror of what Dexter does. It was a great way to shock the audience out of the mind set the series puts you in of accepting and even rooting for Dexter to kill, which provided a perfect setup for the Harry reveal.

Phenomenal. Just phenomenal.

My thoughts exactly. I thought they would be hard pressed to top season 1, but they did. The last 4 episodes were incredible.

SFranke 12-06-07 08:53 PM

I don't know if any one else has mentioned this, but ITK and BHB "share" a victim, the coyote's wife. She's assumed to be ITK's victim, but BHB has the blood sample. The connection's there, but I guess it didn't fit into the plot.
Spoiler:
I think LaGuerta will become the new Doakes. She'll investigate every aspect of Doakes' life, and Dexter will come under the microscope.

Giantrobo 12-06-07 11:23 PM

You guys are confusing me with all the "saw the finale" talk. I keep thinking I missed the rest of the shows.

Ph8te 12-07-07 12:18 AM

Well shoot, now I have to "slide" down the thread so that I dont get hints of the Final episodes :(. Is there any way to move the discussion to a separate thread. This way those of us that are waiting to watch the episodes in HD wont even have a chance of having the episodes ruined. I can remember a separate "spoiler" thread being created when The Shield was "released" early. Just a thought
