Reaper

So have you guys dropped this series? Well I think it has been getting better and better. I laughed my butt off during the sex scene with the demon lady.

I like it. It's just a fun show, and the cast really seems to work together well. I really get a vibe the main guys actually are friends and hang out together, unlike on Chuck. (Which I do like as well.)

Sam swinging the bat at the devil was silly and funny (bonus points for not going for the devil's nards).

I liked this past episode more than the previous one. The Glady/Sock thing was weird and funny and Ray Wise is still awesome as the Devil.

I agree. Mr. Palmer is great as the devil.

This show has definitely improved and raising the stakes with the "Get out of Hell free" card was definitely a step in the right direction. This past episode featured Assistant Director Walter Skinner was also cool because it was a "double whammy".

Only thing is, I really find the Sock character uber annoying. Granted I even slacked up on my dislike of him in this "The Cop" episode.

I noticed that Kevin Smith was credited as an adviser. Has he been involved from the begining?

Yes. He also directed the pilot/first episode.

I've given up on Chuck and Journeyman but this one is enjoyable enough to keep me watching.

I'm still watching and really enjoying it. That make-out scene was hilarious!

Reaper and Chuck are my favorite new shows. I think it's time for a Sock vs. Morgan dance-off.

I have not missed an episode, and the cast really seems to have gelled well together. I think the cast is perfectly cast, especially Missy, and I like that Sam is now getting more used to his job instead of whining. Sock, who I have found funny since the beginning, is perfect in his role. His reaction to the dream was hilarious.

Fixed.

I love Chuck and Reaper, but they need to reign in their obnoxious sidekicks.

I thought that Reaper had some growing pains, but it's becoming a great show. I like that Sam gave Andy the necklace, since she knows (or at least should know) how he feels about her now.

amazing to think she wasn't cast for the pilot. I love Missy. she was one of the best things about one of my guilty pleasures a few years ago, "life as we know it".

edit to add: the original Andi was Nikki Reed.

Missy fits the pretty girl next door role MUCH better.

the episodes have gotten much better since they moved away from Sam complaining every episode, and not opening the vessel until 45 or so minutes in. and i don't mind Sock so much. He's been reigned in, as i also feel they've done to Morgan on Chuck.

I really enjoy this, but I usually have to wait a few days to watch it to put some distance between it and Chuck. The shows, despite wildly different themes, are just too similar for me to watch back-to-back. They both work in big box stores, they both have a burdenous task forced on them, they were both betrayed by loved ones, they both have overbearing comic relief sidekicks, they both have a-hole superiors at work, etc. It's like the creators of the two shows used the same Mad Libs sheet and just filled in the blanks differently.

You know I was annoyed by that. In Reaper, they're in Washington state, and the "Workbench" is clearly more of a Costco than a hardware store as the name suggests. The paper towels Gladys picked up look exactly like the Costco brand. (Costco HQ is in Kirkland, WA.)

I'm enjoying it too, and it's definitely getting better as the weeks go by. I hope it survives; the ratings are pretty weak.

Reaper is enjoyable, but I think the writing staff needs to watch a couple seasons of Buffy and Angel to learn how to balance the character stuff and the demon fighting. I also think it needs an arc episode soon where the overall plot advances in some way, instead of things like the contract showing up and never getting mentioned again.

I'll keep watching to see if it improves, but as it stands I wouldn't care too much if it got canceled.

Go back to them, they're better now I swear! After the third episode of Reaper I was ready to stop watching... I really hate how something always goes wrong with the Vessel, Sam get's some weird affliction that relates to the escaped soul.... but somehow I kept watching and have actually warmed up to the show. The last few episodes have been really solid and haven't stuck to the aforementioned formula (except the tatoo's this week, but I let it slide). It has definitely gotten a lot better IMO.

Melinda Clarke is going to be in the next new episode. She's playing the devil's girlfriend.

Reaper & Chuck are my two favorite new shows of the season. Hell, they could cancel all the other shows if they wanted, just leave me Chuck and Reaper.

I love the devil. I love Missy. I love Sock. I'm in love with this fun show.

I hope it returns for a second season, because I need shows that don't take themselves too seriously to keep me sane.
