Paige Davis returns to Trading Spaces in January '08 (CNN)

http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/1....ap/index.html

NEW YORK (AP) -- Paige Davis is moving back to TLC's "Trading Spaces."

The Broadway actress and TV host will return to the once-popular home makeover series beginning in January, the network said in a statement Thursday.

In 2005, TLC announced Davis would no longer host "Trading Spaces" and transitioned the series to a host-less format.

Davis had perkily hosted the show, which features neighbors swapping homes and redecorating a room, since 2001. Besides "Trading Spaces," she's also appeared on Broadway in the musicals "Beauty and the Beast" and "Chicago."

"Trading Spaces" will now be produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions, the TV production company responsible for Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" and "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares."

The series was formerly produced by Philadelphia-based Banyan Productions.

The new season begins shooting this month and will be filmed entirely in high-definition. Designers Doug Wilson, Laurie Hickson-Smith, Frank Bielec and Hildi Santo-Thomas will also return to the show, alongside carpenters and other designers to be announced later.

Feel free to ask her: [email protected]

That's one snazzy website...if it were 1997.

I always wondered: Did Paige leave the show or was she "pushed"?

I do believe she was pushed. They diluted the franchise with all the different versions and all the crappy variations (along with lots of crappy new designers), and the ratings tanked. They went to a host-less format in response.

My understanding at the time was that she was pushed... but I don't know if that was ever confirmed.

I'm glad Paige will be back. She's a cool gal. I think Doug is kind of a douche.

Some of the Paige-era episodes were in rotation in high-def for a really long time on Discovery HD Theater (now just 'HD Theater').

You know, oddly enough HD Theater has started showing old episodes of Trading Spaces in HD. Not sure how they're doing it.

Easy. Film a show in HD, broadcast it in SD for a few years, then rebroadcast it in HD once everyone has HD sets.

Well, yeah. But I never had any indication that Trading Spaces of all things went to the trouble of filming in HD in 2003.

Glad to see her back. There's just something about those eyes.
I only watched like 2 episodes without her and that was 2 too many.

It was airing on what was then named Discovery HD Theatre...I'm just about 100% sure in 2004 when I first got HD service, and I'd imagine at least sometime before that as well.

To hell with trading spaces, I'd like to combine a few spaces with her.
