Smallville -- "Blue" -- 11/15/07

"Blue"
Spoiler:
Clark hears his mother's voice trapped in Kara's crystal, and releases her. She gives him Jor-El's ring made of Blue Kryptonite, which strips him of his powers.

First Aired: Thursday November 15, 2007

Doc MacGyver 11-15-07 09:39 AM

ugh... not liking the sound of any of that.

Spoiler:
They're overusing the Clark loses powers/gets evil powers/switches powers thing.

After 7 years, I suppose I should just start to accept this show's weaknesses (and strengths). But every year, I get frustrated anyway. ;)

rfduncan 11-15-07 10:01 AM

Sigh. Even the likes of Helen Slater cannot justify going down this path AGAIN! :brickwl2:

Groucho 11-15-07 11:05 AM

Sounds like a great episode. I wish Pushing Daisies would get this innovative with their storylines.

GuessWho 11-15-07 11:06 AM

Comcast's online guide gives away another spoiler

Spoiler:
When Clark brings back his mother, Zor El also returns

starseed1981 11-15-07 11:09 AM

Fingers crossed that Lana gets him by a truck in this episodes.

Vipper II 11-15-07 12:46 PM

How did I know...
Spoiler:
...after reading the title of tonight's episode that it would involve a new color of Kryptonite? Seriously, writers, get some fresh ideas.

I hear PD's "imaginary" episodes kick MUCH ass!

When they say "Bring Back", please oh please tell me it means, "In a Fortress of Solitude Hologram" kind of way... because I really don't like the idea of a Mama-El clone running... too many Kryptonians on this show as it is.

As for the Blue K ring... is this going to be the Superman version of a condom? Because if I were Clark (and were going by the Smallville "I can't bang humans" theory), this would be the greatest gift I'd ever received.

OK, I understand that bringing back Lara is utterly blasphemous, but you know what, I still enjoyed this episode - mainly because of Zor-El, who's certainly better than the usual freak of the week. I also liked the part where Kara was soaking wet.

Lois and Grant drama was ok.

Chloe cell phone news was awesome.

Patman 11-15-07 08:09 PM

This was an oddly constructed and not all that compelling of an episode, plus the silly Lois/Editor subplot just wasn't working for me. Zor-el was a dud of a bad guy. So Editor Boy is a Luthor, though Lionel is in for a surprise when he finds out about him. Having an amnesiac Kara in the middle of Detroit waiting tables, did the writers just run out of things for her to do? How many times has Lana been thrown around like a rag doll?

jpdude 11-15-07 08:10 PM

no way they are brothers...i knew there was something fishy about him.

Eplicon 11-15-07 08:17 PM

Why is it that whenever Clark pursues his own selfish needs, it predictably has dire consequences?

The resolution with the crystal/Zor-El/Lara wasn't satisfying. It didn't have much of an emotional impact.

I'm still weighing in on the twist in the ending. Grant was an interesting character until the revelation.

treszoks 11-15-07 08:20 PM

How many times has Lana been knocked unconscious? She's had more concussions than anyone in tv history. Her brains must be mush by now.

Patman 11-15-07 08:22 PM

I think Lana is now tied with Trent Green in number of concussions.

SuperBatMan 11-15-07 08:32 PM

Pretty good episode. Clark ignoring Jor-El yet again was just horrible. I wonder what his punishment will be this time? Lana gets killed, only for Clark to go back in time and Chloe dies for real?

Grant being the once-believed dead Julian Luthor is just fucking insane. I'm not sure what to think of it yet. I'll wait to see to where it leads.

Hopefully he'll be another clone. Way to kill character-building backstory!

And hasn't television had enough of the "who are you" and "I don't know" response?

Maybe they're setting up that story to make a dramatic political statement. See future headlines say: Humble cafe owner arrested for employing illegal alien.

RocShemp 11-16-07 12:17 AM

So is the amnesia subplot the writers way of integrating the Linda Davners secret identity? Isn't it a bit late for something like that?

Also, am I the only one who thinks the writers of Highlander are writing all the Clark/Jor-El conversations? They seem way too much like all the crap between Ritchie and MacLeod.
Spoiler:
Mercifully, that ended in a long overdo decapitation.

Giantrobo 11-16-07 12:52 AM

This ep was lame. Kara’s Father was lame and the whole storyline was a snoozer. The whole time Potter's line from "It's a Wonderful Life" after George's blow up at the Bank meeting kept ringing through my head..."Sentimental Hogwash". Kal's Mom is dead and needs to stay that way. Let her be a hologram or voice from the crystals in the Fortress like the movies but keep her from becoming "real".

When Kara woke up I thought for sure it was going to be the Legion of Superheroes future…I guess I was wrong. Detroit? I guess she’s gonna join the JL Detroit branch? :p

I told my wife the same thing last week about Lois. There usually isn't an episode that goes by where she isn't knocked out.

 Thought the same thing.

Entertaining but very predictible, right down to Jor'El laying the smackdown on Clark. Once they showed GG playing pool with Lex I figured it was Julian. Not sure what I think about that yet.

Amnesia? Worst plot device ever. At least Heroes wrapped that shit up this week.
