Watcha Gonna Do While The Strike Is On

... and the shows dry up.

Looks like I am watching The West Wing - Complete Series. Just ordered it as strike fodder from DDD with the DVDTALK 20% off code.

Catch up on ignored shows like Cane, Dirty Sexy Money and Greys Anatomy.

Lots of History Channel & Discovery HD.

This is serious stuff. You have to have a battle plan to conquer the withdrawal symptoms.

1) 2 Rifftrax movies and a Film Crew
2) Still haven't started Ken Burn's The War
3) or Planet Earth
4) about a half-dozen Blu-Ray movies I haven't watched yet
5) several PS3 games to play

If anything, I'll thank the writers for striking. I have a lot of backlog to catch up on.

1. The West Wing Complete Series I purchased during the last DDD 20% off sale
2. The Complete Seasons of The Next Generation & SG-1 that I purchased yesterday from DDD

Those are the only unwatched DVDs I have but I think it will keep me busy for awhile. If that doesn't keep me busy there's always work.

It won't really affect me until after January, when I lose "24" and "Lost," in addition to "The Office."

At that point, I'll watch DVDs and play the Wii for entertainment.

Get caught up on my stack of unread books
Extra sleep
Video games
Rifftrax movies
Watch my stack of unviewed DVDs
Listen to a bunch of unplayed albums
Catch some new shows that I missed ("Mad Men", "Pushing Daisies")
Read my pile of neglected magazines
Go through archives of favorite internet sites (like the Onion's AV Club)
Maybe I'll go through some entire TV show runs again ("Arrested Development" and "Sports Night")
Facebook zombie fights!

I can wait this out.

Sam's Club had the entire series of Babylon 5 on DVD for $80.00 last weekend. So I picked that up just in case.

I'll also probably masterbate more often.

Wow, that is an amazing deal. I paid a lot more, but I love the show so much that I don't even mind.

Play more Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3
Watch my unopened DVDs (Dragon Dynasty, OZ S3-6, random movies and tv seasons)
Read the books I've bought and have read yet (Stephen Colbert's book, Jim Norton's book, the new Onion book, Chiris Jericho's book)
I'm not buying any new DVD's until 11/27 so hopefully all this lasts for a while.

I get to catch up on Craig Ferguson episodes. His Paul McCartney divorce jokes are still good, even if they're outdated.

We still have all episodes since the pilot of "Life", and several episodes of "Journeyman", "Bionic Woman", "Pushing Daises," "Chuck," "Torchwood," "Scrubs," and "Earl" to watch. Not to mention Netflix and new 360 and Wii games. And I'm trying to finish my basement.

I figure I've got at least two months worth of content, so hopefully the writers will get what they deserve soon and we can start things up again next year.

I was on the fence about ordering the West Wing set, but after seeing a bunch of you guys already getting it, I rushed to DeepDiscount to confirm my copy. That will be part of how I spend my Writer's Strike time. Also have 4 seasons of Buffy I've been wanting to get to.

I agree. There's been a ton of good shows this season (though I don't care for Bionic Woman and haven't really seen Torchwood). I've got a backlog of about 10 to 20 hours on my DVR.

Is Gossip Girl any good? The only reason I recorded it is because of Kristen Bell -- and yes, I'm aware she's only doing voiceovers -- because of the goodwill she deserves for Veronica Mars. I never really followed the O.C. or One Tree Hill so I don't know if the appeal will be there for me.

Cane is good in a Dynasty/Dallas sort of way, but I expect it to get cancelled as quickly as Smith (also on CBS) did a few years ago.

I've had the same two DVDs (Undeclared and "Pan's Labyrinth) for over a month now so I'll finally watch those and get the next items in my queue.

I'll catch up on my DVR backlog (I still have a lot of Supernatural, CSI, as well full seasons of The Shield, The Tudors, Sopranos, Dead Zone, etc.)

Plus I have tons of DVDs.

I've got a big backlog of TV on DVD which I've been hoarding for just such an occasion. Counting the Stargate Atlantis and Veronica Mars Season 3s I just bought from DD, I've got about 850 episodes on DVD that are still unseen, including complete series of Buffy, Dark Angel, Earth 2, Millennium and Six Feet Under.

Factor in that it's about time I rewatch Babylon 5 plus a few other shows, and I'm planning on buying the complete series of Angel soon, and the writers can strike for the next 2 years and I won't be worried about content.

I'll start on the DVD backlog.
Probably spend some more time with my Xbox 360.
Finish reading the Harry Potter series.
