A great many defenders of Mama's Family the first time around.

Whether it's a "Worst TV Shows ever" or a "Greatest TV Shows ever" list, they're all the same.

My Mother the Car...blah, blah, blah... The Jerry Springer Show...blah, blah, blah...

I'd add:

The Charmings (Snow White and family transported to the modern day)
She's The Sheriff

I think that statement is the point where the article... um... jumped the shark.

Then again, I can't quite fathom the idea that a show that had the staying power to remain on the air for seven years and produce over 200 episodes (Petticoat Junction) could be considered among the worst TV shows "ever".

I couldn't stand that show. It was the epitome of stupid red neck humor. Now on the other hand 'Green Acres' was pure genius. Though I'll give Petticoat Junction some credit as they were always at the top of the ratings.

Only because of CBS's total revamping of their 'urban' shows lineup in the late 60's did they cancel this and other successful 'urban' shows.

"Mama's Family" (1983-90). The Vickie Lawrence skit was the weak link on "The Carol Burnett Show." So, naturally, it got a weekly half-hour.
The Eunice, Ed and Mama skits were the best of Carol Burnett. Period.

I can't believe that was a real show. I thought it was just something Kevin Smith made up for the Clerks Cartoon series.
me to.

Chicagotribune.com asked readers to vote for the worst. Here are the percentages of the total votes each show received.

1. "The Jerry Springer Show" (1991-present): 19.8%
2. "Cavemen" (2007): 15.6%
3. "Mama's Family" (1983-90): 7.3%
WTF, Mama's Family came in 3rd as the worst show ever? The Chicago Tribune and their readers deserve to be beaten soundly. I can understand Cavemen being that high since it's so new, and Jerry Springer being up there since it's such a long running marathon of bad taste, but what did Mama ever do to get ranked so poorly? I mean, it's clearly not worse than Homeboys From Outerspace or .

I really wish these people who make these “Worst TV shows” list, would stop adding My Mother the Car to it. Is it a great show? No, no its not; but (and I know I’m going to get laughed at forever for this one) I would watch My Mother the Car over Gilligan’s Island any day.

I mean wouldn’t you want your dead mother to come back as a Car?

I think the show is more famous for Jerry Van Dyke turning down the role on Gillian’s Island than anything else. Personally I think Jerry is an underrated comedian and his role as Luther Van Dam on Coach was fricken’ excellent.

What???
Three's Company was funny when I was 12. Now it's really bad as is the Roepers and Mama's Family. All aimed at the lowest common denominator.

Last I checked three's company was the greatest show ever made.

The roper's? I dont remember that, Wasnt their a spinoff called three's a crowd? I remember them moving into a new apartment. Three's company was past my bedtime, but I think three's a crowd was on even later.

I only caught one or two episodes but it was bad...
I do not think that the ladies had a lot of English comprehension.

I hate these lists, whether best or worst. Still, I can't image that "Petticoat Junction" would be anywhere on a list of the all time worst.

I mean, where are "Saved By the Bell", "Who's the Boss?", "Full House", "Down to Earth" or "The Munsters Today"? All of those are mind numbling bad, while "PJ" is at worst just bland, and in the beginning it was fairly amusing.

Pink Lady and Jeff is the first thing I thought of, so good to see it made the list.

Don't disrespect the greatest show eva. I am brought back again and again to the wonderful acting talent of Elizabeth Berkley as she sings "I'm So Excited", while hopped up on OTC stimulants. The only word I can think of to describe her award worthy peformance is ... scrumtralescent.

Whatever pills she just took, I'd like a handful, please.

We occasionally sell DVDs at a large local flea market. You wouldn't believe how many people have inquired about the availability of "B.J. & the Bear".

Then again, I'd buy Cop Rock.
