I really don't understand all the hate for this show I started watching last season and the prison storyline may be a little different from the list but, the show's still as good as it's always been.
|
For me, it's just this particular episode. Other than that, I've enjoyed this season, and think the prison plot line is fine.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think Kathy Kinney looked better as Mimi than she did in this episode sans makeup!
For the record, I kind of like the change of pace this season. I think changing things a bit helps keep the show from getting stale, and I applaud the creators for having the guts to try something new. |
i think this epsiode could be one of the worst, if not THE worst, of the entire run of Earl. i can't say i laughed once. Earl normally doesn't make me laugh like a lot of other shows do, but i at least get some chuckles here and there. not one in this excruciatingly long hour of television.

While I wasn't pleased with this episode overall, there were some gags that worked for me. The Tim Stack fire song at the end was quite good if you ask me.

On the whole, I'm enjoying this season and the new direction they took with Earl in jail. However, I must say that this episode was definitely a case of diminishing returns in how far they could exploit the COPS premise. There were still a few chucklers, especially this exchange:
"Oh my God, that white powder could be anthrax!" "I think that's from a funnel cake." "They put anthrax on the funnel cakes?! I just ate one of those!" Here's a question though: a line in the episode from one of the cops mentioned that the anti-terrorist equipment was meant for Camden, NJ, but came to them instead. Huh? I thought they were Camden, NJ. As Earl and the gang's exploits in the past keep getting further illustrated, I keep finding it more and more incredible that Earl hadn't gotten three strikes long ago, although I guess the ending and general incompetence of the police force explains some of it. I'm thinking that if they want to do another episode like this, it should be about the time Earl went to Reno and ended up on that other COPS-like program. |
from wikipedia, for what that's worth:
The state in which the show takes place is never mentioned, but according to the creator, Gregory Thomas Garcia, the show takes place in the fictional town of Camden County (not to be confused with the actual Camden Counties in New Jersey, Missouri, Georgia, and North Carolina). Creator Garcia said that the town is named after his son. The references to Maryland locations (such as Hagerstown, Cumberland, Shady Grove, and Frostburg State University) are due to his familiarity with an area he hails from and that "the show doesn’t technically take place anywhere ... we like to think it’s anywhere. We don’t really say exactly where it is." The pilot episode showed that Earl and Joy drove from Camden County to Las Vegas, Nevada within a single night, suggesting a location in the American Southwest. |

There's also an episode where Crabman was able to sleep outside with only minimal exposure symptoms on Christmas night. That definitely points toward the southwest. And I thought it was a funny episode, the guy in the strip club describing the functions of each of his wives certainly had me laughing. The bit with the bumper cars actually bothered me a bit because I always thought the cars were powered by their contact with the overhead metal grid? |
The writer's strike started early over at My Name Is Earl set! :hairpull:
I can :crap: a turd that's better than this episode and the one from a few weeks back. rotfl |
I thought this was a decent episode, but this show shouldn't ever be over 30 minutes. An hour is just too long to keep me interested. There were some funny moments but overall, like most of this season, there just weren't enough.

I thought it was terrible. More episodes like this, or if they don't get him out of jail soon, and I'm done with this show.

embarassing to watch

wow, if you all hate it that much stop watching - then you can biatch about how you miss it when they take if off the air
personally, I though it was one of the funniest portrayals of post 9/11 life in America: the panic, jingoism, and sadly, racism that all arose in that time /if you get that excited about elbows, boobies are gonna blow your mind! |
Yeah guys, if you don't like one episode of a particular show you should stop watching altogether!!!
