It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - TONIGHT! - 10/30/07

It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Tuesday, October 30 at 8/7c

In the 1966 half-hour animated special It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, The PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party.

PEANUTS focuses on the anxieties and joys of childhood as expressed by an ensemble cast of children who often seem wise beyond their years. Among them are the lovable Charlie Brown, who perseveres despite continuous failure; the philosophical, blanket-carrying Linus; the fussbudget Lucy, who dispenses psychological advice for a nickel from behind a concession stand; and toy-piano virtuoso Schroeder. Central to the comic strip is Charlie Brown's dog, Snoopy, who first stood on his hind legs in 1958 and became extremely popular for his imaginative adventures as a number of characters.

Sure, I have the DVD, but there's just something about watching it when it airs every year...

It's only good if they still show the old Mounds and Almond Joy commercial.

I'm sure I'll watch it.

This is the year! I'll find the perfect pumpkin patch that is really sincere and I'll sit in that pumpkin patch until the Great Pumpkin appears. He'll rise out of that pumpkin patch and he'll fly through the air with his bag of toys. The Great Pumpkin will appear and I'll be waiting for him! I'll be there! I'll be sitting there in that pumpkin patch and I'll see the Great Pumpkin. Just wait and see!!!

Dammit.

Second year in a row I'll miss this because I'll be in class. What's worse is that I won't have time between work and school to get home and set the DVR.

Grrrrr...

I wonder how much ABC will cut out of it to fit it in the thirty-minute time frame.

OMG. They're padding a 25 minute show to an HOUR?!?!? That is insane. That's more commercials than show. I'm watching it on DVD.

55% commercials = NO SALE ABC

Yeah, me too.

To be fair, they're probably going to include glowing quotes from Bill Melendez's daughter, Charles Schulz's elderly widow, and the publicity guy from King Features Syndicate.

It's funny. I was just coming to post this, but, I see there is already a thread. I'm excited to see this, as it has been a few years.

Also, it is scheduled for an hour on ABC. It will be interesting to see what additional material they find to fill in the time.

According to my DVR, there will be a bonus cartoon, entitled "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown."

I still use "I've learned there are three things you don't discuss with people: religion, politics and the Great Pumpkin" in everyday conversation.

I missed it - I guess I need to find it on DVD. It has been at least 15 years since I saw it.
