Save this Show: Aliens in America

Here's your chance before it is too late!

Calling all Freaks and Geeks and Wonder Year fans and fans of that caliber of show!

Please sample "Aliens in America", Mondays at 8:30 on the CW, it is the best new comedy of the season, and imho the best new show of the season and it desperately needs your help.

If you like "How I Met Your Mother", which gets plenty of Love on this Board, it's a perfect follow up show at 8:30.

The cast is quirky and effective, the writing is crisp, funny and edgy, and there's a music budget for solid tunes. The show breezes by in 30 minutes.

Those who complain about nothing decent on, or why are there so many reality shows, and why are there no decent sitcoms out there anymore
why are you not watching?

If you've got The Office Tivo'd, Tivo this.
If you've got How I met Your Mother Tivo', Tivo this
If you've got Entourage Tivo'd, Tivo This
If you've got 30Rock Tivo'd, Tivo this

I implore you, SAVE THIS SHOW, before its too late and it's left in the graveside with all the other "they died to young" shows of past eras.

It's not too late to get in and bump up the ratings on this show.

However, it is indeed in critical condition and must be saved!

Monday – 10/15

I just read they are going to start airing repeats on Sunday night at 7:30, in the timeslot vacated by Online Nation.

This is good news because I have too many conflicts during the regular timeslot.

The "low" ratings on The CW don't mean a whole lot really. Veronica Mars was on for 3 seasons and it had abysmal ratings the entire time.

I imagine with the CW Now thing canceled, the other show, Life is Wild will be too.

Exactly. Are we even aware if this show needs "saving"? CW shows exist in their own alternate ratings reality.

Newsweek just published an article talking about how racially and culturally insensitive this show is. Any truth to that?

Newsweek clearly doesn't "get it" because I think while SOME people on the show are insensitive, they are painted as idiots because of that fact... Newsweek must not understand the concept of satire.

definitely one of the smartest new shows this season. But I'm concerned it has gotten virtually no press compared to the other CW shows, since this is probably their best one.

To tell the truth, after all of the buzz, this show has been a disappointment to me.

35 years ago, Newsweek probably talked about central theme of All in the Family being how racially and culturally insensitive Archie Bunker was.

i like entourage, but there are no similarities between the two shows. or 30 rock. or the office...

anyways, i've watched the first three episodes wanting to like it but i just feel "meh". it's by no means a bad show, but i's not particularly funny, either. the music is good, though.

My favorite part of the article was "Cue the laugh track." There's no fucking laugh track in this show, and that line wasn't supposed to be funny.

Sadly I think the guy does have somewhat of a point in regards to Cavemen.

I mention these shows because they are quality, just like this one.

I think every show on the CW needs savings, the network is anemic.

The show deserves better than 2.23M, I'm just hoping to get the word out before its too late.

Another one of those funny shows that no one watches. Is it the title that makes people not want to tune in?

Would love to help save the show, but I missed the first few episodes, and don't have time to play catch up. Once they start repeating it from the beginning, I'll give it a shot.

RECAP:

Season Opener

Set in Wisconsin.

Sister Grows Boobs over Summer, makes top 10 list of Bangable girls.

Unfortunately, the Brother makes the list as well.

Parents fast forward to the guidance counselor for assistance on making the kid cooler and fit in more, he suggests a Uber-Exchange student from Sweden or the like, thats featured on the Exchange Student Brochure Cover.

An exchange student, will make the son more popular, the parents are in, the son is in.

Fast forward -> the parents were duped, the exchange student they get is actually from Pakistan, and he sticks out like a sore thumb in Wisconsin. Insert your fair share of Terror/Al Qaeda Jokes.

So we've got two fish out water, but along the way they become friends and hence is our show.

It's a quality show, they've got some fun tunes working, a really solid cast, and some funny high school setups.

Give it a try for a few weeks.

The CW is really truly lost if they don't nurture this show.

I'll TIVO record this. The NY Times article a while back piqued my interest but my brain is not wired to know when shows are on, aside from a very small handful.
