It's kind of a moot argument because you can bet the contract for any writer/actor with drawing power is going to be better than the minimum agreements the guilds work out.

That reminds me of Richard Kelly's Southland Tales. I'm sure his cast had at least a bit to do with how much a failure that film was. Now he's no Mamet, but still.

Michael Ausiello put together a chart of a bunch of shows and how many new episodes we can expect to see after the strike concludes. Most new episodes won't air until April/May.

I just need a decent conclusion to Scrubs

I love this one:

Life Is Wild
No new episodes expected. Ever.

Gizmo 02-07-08 10:50 PM

At least Gossip Girl, The Office, 30 Rock, and Scrubs will come back this season.

Still holding out for LOST, Moonlight, Friday Night Lights and House.

You will be watching your last episode never of FNL tomorrow night. Between the ratings and the strike, it's dead. It's all but confirmed.

He also made the same comment about Bionic Woman.

Terrible news. I started hearing rumblings about how good this show was after season 1 so I ventured out and picked it up. I just got around to watching it last week and I loved it. Its such a great show, but alas, I can never watch it on Friday nights. I'm eager to get my hands on the season 2 DVD whenever that comes out.

Will tomorrows ep of FNL at least be a proper finale?

Jeremy517 02-08-08 01:32 AM

"It's over," Michael Eisner said. "They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It's going on Saturday to the writers in general."

There's more info in tonight's FNL thread, but according to the creator, no.

Wow! I didn't know Ben Silverman posted here.

Chew 02-08-08 10:01 AM

Fingers crossed the strike is over.

And if it is, I certainly hope the late night writers return to work as quickly as they left and will be back on Monday. I also hope that means there's a new SNL next week.

The writers are the backbone of the industry. Without them, there IS no industry. And if you think that Hanks would just write his own movie, then he becomes the writer.

The SNL writers have been on strike for years.

Really, enjoy S1 and pretend the show ended there. S2 was okay but no where NEAR S1 in any aspect. Oh yeah, and they cut out all the football?!?! :hscratch:

FYI
The chart on TV Guide has been updated. House will get 4-6 more episodes before the season is over.

I seriously doubt that could happen in that short amount of time. The entire cast and crew were essentially "fired" by NBC. There's no way they could get back up and running so quickly.

I was enjoying the break actually. I'm not exactly overjoyed that this thing is coming to a potential end.

For some reason, I was really hoping that the Oscars would be fucked up. I think I've grown a little more cynical about the spectacle each year... and I was looking forward to it falling completely apart this time.

But theres the thing, the WGA has about 10,500 members. There's 300+ million people in the US, are you saying those 10,500 people are the only ones that could write a movie? And unlike replacing somebody like Tom Hanks, not nearly as many people are going to care that the script was written by Joe Humdrum instead of Roberto Orci or Alex Kurtzman (whose last movie could have been written better by some 10 year olds.)
