Also, did we really need to have a flashback of Hiro's time in Japan after 2 episodes? Great that Ando knows something, but that was wholly unnecessary.

Artman 10-09-07 11:47 AM

It took 4-5 episodes before I got into it last season, so I'm not ready to write this one off. That said, so far it's been laughably bad - but in an enjoyable way at least.

Same here. Though it does crack me up when people threaten bailing after 2 episodes. Give me a break.

It's any show. People are always quick to declare a show has jumped the shark. Maybe they think it's trendy to decry something that's become popular. I don't know.

I liked this episode... it was pretty much on par with every other episode of the series, absent the few exceptional ones (the "Days of Future Past" knock off being the best of the series, IMO).

HN 10-09-07 12:13 PM

they really need to stop revealing the black teary eyes as if it's the first time we're seeing it. I can almost hear "dun dun duuuuunn" in the background.

anyway, what if peter turns to be the big bad this season? and the only one that could match-up with him is an empowered Sylar? Would Suresh help Sylar? Or will he continue playing My Two Dads with Parkman?

(oh, and i expect to see at least one "with one episode, they pull me right back in!" comment this season.)

Right.... because three episodes into season 1, we knew exactly what was going on, didn't we?

Yep, the "too-cool-for-the-room" crowd.

PopcornTreeCt 10-09-07 12:47 PM

Good, I hope more people stop watching it. I won't have to browse through 4 pages next time.

Chew 10-09-07 12:59 PM

I, for one, am happy with the season so far. It's unfolding like a good comicbook. ;)

I just wish they could've kept Nichelle Nichols out of the opening credits given her puny cameo in this week's episode. It ruined the surprise.

Now, it seems to have no real direction, and the story seems to get advanced by contrivance and stupidity.

Sorry for the quick off-topic post, but I went to college with someone who got his car stolen in broad daylight and it was parked in front of the police station. Granted, he left the keys in it and it was running, but none-the-less it was ripped off in broad daylight and in front of the police station.

Merkin Muffley 10-09-07 01:05 PM

I'll feel a lot better about this episode if someone can confirm that Michelle/Candice/Sylar's line, "If that's what you're into," is an intentional Flight of the Conchords reference.

Trigger 10-09-07 01:24 PM

This show is losing me as well... Wonder Twins are boring and lame. I kinda wish they would do away with Sylar and find some other foe besides a hero eating virus (so lame). Too many characters... they don't seem to be going anywhere with these powers... no point. It looks like they might be headed towards X-Men's segregation angle... yuck.

the big train 10-09-07 01:29 PM

back-to-back Malejandro and Nikki scenes

Wouldn't Kensei still be alive in the present day? We know the power he shares with Claire regenerates dead and missing tissue, so wouldn't they both basically look about 25 for all eternity? If this is the case, I'm guessing that Kensei killed Hiro's dad.

pinata242 10-09-07 01:33 PM

Tissue regeneration != immortality

Even "Lizards" don't live forever.

However, that being said, we don't know technically what Kensei's power really is so you could still be right. Though the hooded dude looked shorter to me than Kensei as we see him in the past, but I have no point of reference for that basis.

tasha99 10-09-07 02:38 PM

I've been enjoying Hiro's and Peter's storylines, though I do agree they aren't without a few flaws.

The flying scene was absolutely the dumbest thing I've watched on television in the last few years. What the hell were the writers thinking?

I enjoyed Sylar's scene, but I hope the writers give him some more depth. Constantly being such a baddass will eventually get boring, imo.

About the virus . . . I can't remember how Mohinder discovered his blood was the cure. It seems so farfetched that we can't cure the common cold after decades of research done by scores of scientists, but he finds the cure to a virus that has barely infected anyone (2 people up until last season). ??? I guess I'm being silly though considering how realistic the rest of the show is.

His father had been searching for a cure for years because the virus is what killed his first daughter. In his notes he alluded to something about Mohinder being the cure. How Mohinder figured that it was his blood I don't remember.

I'll have a good laugh if flying boy has his powers because Nathan's his dad.

Have we heard anything in the past about Nathan and St. Louis? That would totally suck for Claire, especially since I'm pretty sure it was West she was kissing in that 8/8 painting.

CMBanks 10-09-07 03:40 PM

Hi everyone. Long time lurker and first time posting. I can't believe that no one has mentioned that the car that the guy in the Mexican jail was driving during the escape was a black Nissan Rogue. I don't doubt that it will show up as Claire's stolen car. Easy way to lead Maya and her brother to Noah and Mohinder maybe.

Big Boy Laroux 10-09-07 03:42 PM

i believe someone already did mention it. And it is her car. Her high school bumper sticker was on the back.

Hate to burst your bubble, but it was mentioned back on post #31. Still a good catch.

HUGE difference. First of all, it was a brand new show back then and it had a lot of characters/mythos to set up. Plus we knew from the start that something/someone was going to blow up NYC. This is the second season where we now know almost all the charachters and the mythos. So by it being stillborn 3 episodes in is unexcusable. If you love it, well then good for you. I guess it would just be safer on this board if I wrote OMG! Bestz show eva! Heroes rulez!

Execuse me for wanting more from a show that can do better.

IMO, this is all a result of head writer Bryan Fuller leaving the show for Pushing Daisies. Without his direction, everything is a mess and it will take some time for the other writers to get back on track.

asianxcore 10-09-07 04:10 PM

I enjoyed this week's episode minus the random flying scene and Maya/Alejandro.

I'm already bored of the Maya/Alejandro storyline and it's only 3 episodes in. Am I supposed to care about them because they are related? I'll applaud the writers if we ever get an episode involving them where they aren't running or Maya's eyes turning black.

Also why is Claire surprised about her flying "boyfriend" being abducted by her dad's company? Didn't Ted and Matt hold her family hostage and spat out everything about the abductions, tests and the two markings on their shoulders? Or did the Haitian erase her memory completely. The storyline just seems like a boring retread of Season 1 and adding a male interest just makes things too cutesy for my tastes. I am interested in the 8/8 Isaac Mendez painting shown at the end of the episode. Could the other man in the painting kissing/holding Claire be her flying friend?

I'm glad Slyar is back and his powers not working makes things tremendously interesting. I can't wait to see where this goes.

Was Candice part of the graphic novels? I thought it was sort of weird that they brought her back (looking two different ways) only to kill her right away.

Dash 10-09-07 04:15 PM

I really love the show but I'm starting not to like where it is going. The whole Peter not just taking the box and instead robbing the armored car was kinda lame. Will he become the bogyman?

The whole Clair sub-plot gets to me too. At first she is all pissed off at West but once she finds out he has powers they are best friends. And because he mentioned HGR she now no longer trusts him after all he has done?

The only real storyline I enjoy is Hiro's. I'm still not sure if hes going to help Kensi or become him. Maybe Kensi will turn on Hrio and later become the bogyman.

Either way HGR is my favorite character in the show. If they kill him off I may seriously consider not watching it anymore.

You're going to get your wish friend. The ratings for Heroes have dropped once again to an all-time low for a new episode. They're nearing 10 million viewers now.

It's one thing when a show is super hot and people bitch, but it's something else when people bitch and the show is losing viewers. Obviously this board is some sort of microcosm for the viewing public as the viewing public is not too happy with where the show is going and is not watching like it once was.
