30 Rock *S2 Premier* - "SeinfeldVision" 10/4/07

SeinfeldVision

Spoiler:
As the cast and crew of TGS with Tracy Jordan returns for a new season, Liz is excited to see Jack again. However, her excitement quickly fades as Jack insists that Liz is still not over Floyd. Meanwhile, Jerry Seinfeld shows up at Jack's office in an upset mood after Jack announces his plan to use footage from Seinfeld to install Jerry into every current show on NBC, a strategy which he calls "SeinfeldVision". Finally, Kenneth becomes Tracy's office wife when Tracy separates from his wife and Jenna returns to set a whole lot heavier now that she has been involved in Mystic Pizza: The Musical!.

It's GOLD, Jerry! GOLD!

[Mods - forgot to post the date in the thread title. Please fix. Thanks!]

I've been anticipating this episode ever since I heard Jerry was going to be a part of it.

Great to have this one back. Tina Fey was on Conan last night, and they showed a clip of the premier where
Spoiler:
Liz Lemmon was in a dress and upset/crying. When she's crying she sounds like what a classic imitation of Seinfeld sounds like (what's the deal with...)
. Very funny stuff.

Also from the Conan interview, a spoiler on another guest appearance.
Spoiler:
Carrie Fisher...and she has to say "Help me Liz Lemmon, your our only hope".

I'll catch this purely for the Sein's appearance.

I hope that lots of people got converted by the S1 dvds or tune in to catch Seinfeld...and then STICK AROUND FOR THE SEASON. This show needs the viewers and I can't figure out why it hasn't caught on... one of the best comedy shows. I watched Season 1 twice on dvd (and last year on air) so you bet your ass I'm looking forward to tonight's season opener.

It's a great show, but much like Arrested Development, has a good number of "inside jokes" and a few "think jokes" that take a second or two to set in.

This and HIMYM are my two favorite comedies on TV right now, but sadly they seem destined to play second fiddle to mediocre shows like Two and a Half Men and According to Jim.

(Then again, the other comedies I enjoy (Scrubs, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, etc; ) aren't exactly setting the world ablaze either.)

I read somewhere that Seinfeld really enjoys 30 Rock and remembers how shitty it felt to think you had a good show but couldn't get anybody to watch. He thought he could help out with a guest appearance, something he wished many of the celebs who told him they loved early Seinfeld were unwilling to do.

I finally caught up on DVD over the summer, and this is now my 2nd most anticipated premiere/show after The Office. I wish they would scale Tina Fey back a bit, but it's only a small complaint.

Does Fey still solicit view questions? You should suggest that to her.

Jerry was also gracious enough to show up on Newsradio, for essentially the same reason.

Phenomenal episode!! 30 Rock rocks, funny, amazing characters, great lines, witty dialog, and while seeing Jerry on this episode was amazing, Alec still steals the show. I soooooo hope that Jerry makes some more appearances, the guy gets props in my book for taking the time out to show up. Can't wait for next week!!

The Bee Movie mentions were a bit much, but it was funny when Seinfeld looked into the camera to say it's opening date.

This episode was the funniest yet... and it wasn't because of Seinfeld. They were all really on top of their game this one. I've always had this on my DVR, but never took it seriously while at the same time I never took it off the schedule... now I'm thinking it's one of my favorite comedies.

Hey, Michellin Man. I love your tires.

Seinfeld was well used here. Especially when Kenneth did the theme song, and he said, "Really?"

The Tracy stuff was more annoying than funny this time.

Oh no you didn't! Nice reference.

Great epsiode. I hope they got the numbers last night with Jerry because a first time viewer would definitely have gotten a full dose of how great this show is with this episode. Great job 30 Rock!!!!

Seinfeld is my favorite show of all time, and although I think Jerry is a genious, he's not the reason last night's episode was so great. Yes, Alec is pure gold, but I'm starting to realize that Tina Fey is not only the main reason this show is so smart and funny, but she was also responsible for most of the funny on SNL while she was there. That's very obvious now that she's gone.

Was that someone giving Tina Fey a "SNL funny" compliment?

I agree.

Ah, my show's back!

"Are You Stronger Than a Dog" and Tracy's wife getting custody of Grizz had me rolling.

EDIT: +1 for the Wii reference too!
