The Pretender - Watching the cult show for the first time!

I picked up the whole series for $20 as a blind buy (just a cousin ever told me how great it was) after I read some good reviews. As a huge Carnivale fan, its great seeing Lodz in action. Im 6 eps into the first season and Im digging it. It has its 'holes' but the good outweights the bad.

Im just wondering how Jarrod gets all the credentials and supplies (an armored truck, uniforms) so damn quick! Either way its a cool show.

Anyone else watching after getting the set at BB at a great price?

This is one of those shows that has lots of holes especially as the seasons progress, but it's still WELL worth the ride. Just go with it and you'll find this a very enjoyable experience.

I bought the 4 seasons of The Pretender on DVD last summer & I enjoyed it a lot & it was even better than I remembered it, when it first aired on NBC.

JuryDuty pretty much summed up my thoughts on the show. It has some plot holes but it’s an enjoyable ride.

Most fans of the series thought that the last season was running out of steam, I didn’t. I kind of enjoyed when they got out of the ‘Jarod’s new job of the week’ formula & when they ‘experimented’ with the show more.

All in all, you’ll enjoy it! Don’t forget to pick up the The Pretender movies (The Pretender: 2001, The Pretender: Island of the Haunted) Disc on DVD.

Yea I saw those movies the other day, I didnt know they existed.

I like how the show seems real close to Jarrod losing it and letting someone die in his vengeful reveal. I also like the Quantum Leap endings but I wish they woulda stuck to em! In one he was a Montie and I wanted to see him in the wilderness.

That Parker chick is really hateful too. I dont know if its the character but she rubs me the wrong way.

How did you get the whole series for $20!?

I would have gotten in on that deal!

I love The Pretender and never missed an episode. I loved how it hung in there every season while all the other shows around it fell by the wayside.

Sorry to bump an old thread but, I cut Michael Weiss' hair today. He was totally cool, very laid back.

Never could get into it personally. The main character and the chick chasing him both got on my nerves.

Did you save some in a baggie and put it up on eBay?

Still wish I could find a deal where I could get all 4 seasons for $20.

Only thing that disappointed me about this show is that they had such a wonderful back story going, all sorts of twists and turns and then the series ended without tying up all the loose ends. Then they make a couple TV movies and instead of wrapping things up, they just create more questions. They could have ended it perfectly with the TV movies. I think they missed their chance.

Re: The Pretender - Watching the cult show for the first time!

An FYI for everyone, you can get Seasons 1-2 and 3-4 at Walmart for $20 a set. For $40 that's not bad.

I picked up 1-2 quite a few years ago and just got 3-4 last week.

I'll be revisiting this series in the next couple months.

Re: The Pretender - Watching the cult show for the first time!

Michael Weiss keeps popping up on Blue Bloods, if anyone is watching that show.Minor character, but one that, it would seem, has alot to do with the back story of the main characters. I too was a huge fan of The Pretender and really enjoy seeing those actors in other shows nowadays. It was actually the reason I started watching Burn Notice at episode 1. I too see the two packs at walmart for $20, sometimes $15.
