Did Lois and Clark pick up steam after first season?
I seem to remember liking this show but I didnt watch it until it was on a few years. So now I am watching season one and I have to say its more painful then a mediocre Charlie Angels or Knight Rider episode. It just way too cartoony and outlandish so far.
I also don't remember Jimmy Olsen looking like that. Maybe it just doesn't stand the test of time but does this show pick up steam or is there a best season? I believe I liked it for the relationship and dialogs between Lois and Clark and there was this voodoo villian that used snakes and fear which was my favorite ep back then.

The show went through alot of changes through the years. Season 1's show runner and Executive Producer was Deborah Joy Levine, who created the show. I believe she wanted to make the show more or less similar to Moonlighting with a little of the Superman lore. She left the show after season 1 and Robert Singer (Supernatural) took over as show runner and he made the show more action-adventure oriented.
Michael Landes played Jimmy Olsen in season 1 and was replaced by Justin Whalin for seasons 2-4. I guess Whalin looked younger and fit the part better. There was a really annoying character named Cat played by Tracy Scoggins in season 1, but she was also let go.

The series definitely got better mid-way through Season 2 (IMO) and hit it's high during Season 3. However, during Season 4 it all went to pot (tho I still enjoyed it).

Yeah, it started a little slow, got better, than tanked.
When they started bringing in George & Weezy Jefferson, Drew Carey, Howie Mandel, Bronson Pinchot, etc as supervillains is when I tuned out.

I remember liking it up until the final season. I'll always remember Teri Hatcher for this show even though she will probablybe remembered by most for Housewives. The only thing that bugged me about L&C was that Dean Cain didn't look any different with or without glasses so everyone seemed stupid they couldn't figure out his secret. At least in the movies, Clark and Superman do look like different people due to the glasses.

I never watched L&C, so I can't contribute much beyond this. I do know the show has the reputation of completely tanking in its last year, as stated by others.

I am making my way thru the George Reeves series right now, but have full intentions of donig Lois and Clark. I remember loving it growing up (heh, showing my age). Sure, Dean Cain looked like a complete douche in the Superman outfit, but damn, Terri Hatcher was hot.

After ABC moved the show to Saturday's in season 4, it was basically dead.
