"Pilot"
Hopefully this is better than John From Cincinnati. The majority of the reviews have been positive but some say it takes a few episodes to get moving.

Definite weird voyeuristic vibe to the whole thing.
The storyline, so far, is about as banal as it could get. It's kind of like sitting in the backseat of a car while a husband and wife are arguing over money. The sex scenes also have the same feeling, especially the big handjob scene at the end. Very mundane and voyeuristic. Especially the scene where Penny-from-Lost jerks her husband to an on-screen orgasm. It's not the kind of thing you're actually expecting to be shown and it sort of fits in with all of the other things you wouldn't expect to see on a drama program, either.
This could get really interesting or end up being the dullest porn ever.

Watched this last night... It was okay... the thing that stands out in my mind is how old looking Jane Alexander and David Shelby got. YIKES! How long ago was Falcon's Crest?

I was gonna give this one a try, but the completely forgot about it last night... From the sounds of things I'm just going to keep on forgetting... At this point all HBO has going for it is "Big Love" and "True Blood"... I might just have to dump them and wait for the DVD's ($80 a year for both series is cheaper than the approx $100 a year I spent on HBO - and I barely watch the movies anymore).

Anyone out there that has Comcast, it looks like they've got next weeks episode already on demand if you want to check it out early.

Was this episode 4 hours long? Because it sure felt like it. Usually I give HBO shows at least 3 airings to hook me, but I'm not sure I could force myself to sit through another episode of this.

What is going on with new HBO series? John from Cincinati was boring and this one was just painful to watch. At 40 minutes, I turned off my DVR.

We signed on to Showtime last month in preparation for dropping HBO (after enjoying it for nearly a year). We caught up on Dexter & Brotherhood and are looking forward to the new seasons starting at the end of this month. Couldn't care less about Weeds, Californication, and the other lame Showtime "comedies", but we're hoping to catch reruns of some of the other series (The Tudors, for instance). At least Showtime/TMC is only $10 a month & we get to keep the Encore Channels (including my favorite...The Western Channel).

I wanted to like this show, but there are too many characters. There's not enough time to give each one enough dimensions for the viewer to care about, IMO. I'm not 12, so the nakedness doesn't really matter, I'd rather have more supporting details about everyone than watch grandma gum it. I'll probably give it another week, but it'll have to be better than the pilot for me to let it take an hour of HD programming every week. I already know there's too many new shows for me to watch, so this will probably be cut.
I can't believe they make this and John From Cincinnati, that money could make a fantastic show in Alan Ball's hands.
