While I do admit that the smoke detector was pretty obvious, that's always been the format with the show. Stuff from the beginning coming back to bite Larry in the ass. This was classic Curb and I'm so so glad to have it back!

I thought last season was really weak, but I loved this episode. Glad to hear he's already considering another season as well. Maybe the break got his creative juices flowing again.

Loved when they were trying to get out of Marty's house and the doorbell rang. "What is this, you've got company? Now it's really crazy!"

And the guy at the cake shop matter-of-factly saying "Yes, you ate this cake."

Good episode.

Did anyone in Canada with TMN have trouble with this episode? When I set this up to tape a few days ago, there was supposed to be an episode on at 10:30, then Tell Me You Love Me, then a repeat of this episode. I had all three set up to record, just in case. When I checked last night, not only were none of those shows on, but there was no sign of my recordings set up (usually the history would say "No Event" if the show did not come on). Does anyone know if they didn't show TMYLM because of the controversy, and maybe that is why the listings changed? I ended up taping CYE at about 2:30 or 3:30 AM instead. I would have been pissed if I didn't notice it last night.

My thoughts as well. I'm hopeful this season will rebound nicely.

Are they going to stick with this theme the whole season?

I would like to see Wanda Sikes with Lary, but if they stick with this theme it could be like when Cousin Oliver came to stay with the Brady's.

Decent episode. Definitely nowhere near the best ever as some have noted. Every gag seems like it's a repeat of past episodes.

Love the show, but this episode was just okay. There were definitely some funny moments, but just not enough (compared to previous episodes).

This week's EW has a review of the season and it said that the Blacks staying with the Davids would be a season-long plotline.

Larry David must have been reading DVDTalk threads on The Amazing Race a couple of seasons ago.

One of my favorite parts was when Larry was trying to talk Cheryl into forgiving him, saying that he would do anything to get her forgiveness. When she said "Anything?", most shows would have had him say yes, only to her have spring the whole adopting a family on him. I love how on this show, Larry was smart enough to say anything short of taking in the family, but he still gets roped into taking the family. It shows how smart yet whipped he really is...

It started out a little slow, but it got really funny as the friends tried to out a-hole one another with the showing up a day late to parties they didn't want to attend, and then the Black family and the cakes just pushed the episode into truly LOL funny territory. Good stuff!

One thing I didn't quite get was why Larry had a mouth full of black penis when he was talking to Vivica Fox. It was so over the top obvious that you barely see any of his teeth..

Dignam, it's because he mentioned earlier that the cake was like a mint, you had to SUCK IT. So he had his mouth full of black penis cake that he was SUCKING, not just chewing and swallowing.

Was that Tia Carrere playing Cha Cha? It's not listed on IMDB. If that wasn't her, it's her twin.

Pretty much exactly how I felt.

My favorite parts are always when Larry gets insanely mad, and there was plenty of that in this episode.

All the Black stuff didn't do it for me, and I'll be disappointed if it's really the running plotline and it doesn't improve.

I thought it was so-so. Still, I'm very happy to see it back. Although I didn't like the repeating of the day-late routine, I did find it funny when Larry stuck Richard Lewis with staying at Ted and Marys place.

I was really annoyed with the woman smoking in the house. The butting out of the cigarette in the cake would have been the end of their stay if it was my house.

Considering all of the trivial things Larry goes ballistic over, it does seem odd that such an obviously crass act goes uncommented. Even a tolerant person would have thrown her obnoxious ass out the door immediately, and Larry is far from tolerant.

Well I agree. That one smoking woman Loretta is a total bitch. I mean at least have SOME manners in regards to living in someone else's house! That kind of ignorance just turned me off. While Larry is a dolt, as the only member of the family who had a conversation with Larry, Loretta represented the Black family as rude and ingracious guests. I'm willing to reserve my final judgment for a few more episodes, but it doesn't look promising.

Yeah Loretta was a bitch, but I've heard stories online about displaced families being taken in and being the biggest pricks in the world (not all of them obviously) - so Larry just got one of them.

Thank goodness I'm not the only person who was annoyed by this.

Larry is willing to sell a house because it creaks, he insults people and does not care - why is he willing to put up with this behavior.

I hope this is not an ongoing gag
